I couldn't believe what I was watching. I'm close to hopping off the CMC train.
I never believed I would say that or agree with it but wholly sheet they looked like a pile of trash offensively today. Coach is not doing an outstanding job and I took my blinders off today. Still love our coach but dang that was really bad against an Iowa team that really isn’t very good either

I was more upset with the lack of taking the 1 on 1 outside. Need to force the safeties to choose when Iowa is going to sit back in zone all day.

I Understand not throwing the players under the bus, but man up and say as a coaching staff we have improvements to make, and then try to do them.
I would have a hard time not blaming myself (as the head coach) for every loss. Probably why I’m not a P5 coach. I wouldn’t be pumping sunshine. I’d be saying we fought hard AND we have a lot of work to do.

It may be time to apologize to @joefrog
Thanks, but entirely too much pride and too many egos on this site.

I love ISU and want success. I loved the CMC hire and his first couple of years.

You cannot watch ISU play these last, what, 3 years now, and listen to the press conferences, and pretend this staff is seriously focused on winning. No way.

Sorry I have seen so much football and have a gift of seeing trends before others.

Our clock management is still atrocious, play development and calling are still sub-par, and there is very little creativity or innovation shown by this staff.

It is quite apparent NFL RBs and NFL QB, WRs, and TEs were masking some huge problems with the offensive staff or philosophy.

I hope Matt takes another job. Soon.

I thought it was the worse crowd for an ISU-Iowa game than I can ever remember. Everyone seemed indifferent in my section. Probably because we’ve all seen that game 10x before.
It did get bumping after the TD but there’s no reason for it to take that long to get the crowd involved. Just a total failure today

This seems like a really weird thing to be upset about. We got exactly what we wanted. A score, a stop, and almost 2 minutes for a drive to tie the game.

We had a young quarterback who hadn't gotten us to the end zone all game. Priority #1, 2 and 3: score the touchdown on that drive. If you don't do that, it doesn't matter if there was 2 minutes left or 5. They got it done, and with enough time (after a great stop by the D) to give themselves a chance.

ISU under CMC has never shown any ability to run a 2 minute drill, especially without timeouts.

Even when we have had NFL talent, we rarely if ever showed we could run it.
I’m just referring to the fact that somebody could say we got what we wanted. It was awful, 5 min was much better than 2 minutes….they also had timeouts and it appeared that they were so under prepared as I saw coaches going nuts on the sidelines at one point in that stretch to get a play going. That whole drive and how it played out even as a TD was a real telling sign of this staff. Just my opinion and I hope this turns into a good season but today….was bad

Wonder if CMC has any old buddies or pals at Ohio that he might talk shop with pre-game.....like Chizik did at Okie State.

Priority # 1 was to take as much time as needed to pull within 7 points. Dont play with any urgency at all. Doesn't matter how much time you leave on the clock. Then if you are fortunate enough to get the ball back with 2 minutes left and no timeouts, then that is the only time when it is appropriate to play with urgency. OK.

Becht took the play clock down to 10 seconds or under on almost every play on the TD drive. That's 20 seconds that was unnecessarily wasted on every play. What did those 20 seconds accomplish? It wouldn't have taken much to give ISU another 3 minutes of time for the last possession.

Look at the last drive. We were running on 4th and 1 at our own 45. Even if Norton picked it up, we would have already eaten up 1 of the 2 minutes remaining. At the pace we were going, we were looking at needing to throw a hail Mary to tie the game. Not good clock management.

Pretty sure the statistics show that the offense has the advantage in those hurry up situations... unless you are Navy or maybe ISU?

They should Geofence Campbell’s house. Seemed like he might have had money on Iowa…

And the “culture” or whatever corpo buzz phrase you want to use was just shattered by a bunch of players ******* around with gambling.

Can't talk about that, though. Rogue actors, no reflection on Campbell and his culture. Can't control everyone.

I am. If we don't score there, the extra minute or two doesn't matter, because we aren't scoring twice more. The priority had to be to score, and the goal was to do so with enough time to stop them and then have a reasonable amount of time left to score again. We did that.

Lots of bad coaching issues this game. The 4th quarter TD drive isn't one of them. I mean it worked! And we got the ball back with plenty of time!

I don’t disagree necessarily with the thought process but that whole drive was a debacle that ended well. The coaches were the issue and thankfully the throw by Rocco was amazing

I think it highlights the (still) conservative game plan on the offensive side of the ball. I kind of get it with a young QB in his second game, and first really big game, but the frustration comes when you realize that it's the same game plan for Purdy and Breece Hall too.

CMC wants to play Woody Hayes football. Seriously, when was the last fun game of ISU football to watch?

Vs. TCU in 2021?

I can't believe people need so see more failure. No, they want more failure.

I've had a lot of fun in the Matt Campbell era, though I think my expectations are realistic. Out of every 5 years, I would like to see 1 great year, 3 good bowl years, and I'd allow for one rebuilding/dud. So far, I think he has met them.
