Oddly they scored on that weird clock sucking drive, then made the plays to get the ball back.

Then it's time to break out the tempo and get downfield to tie.

That last play call was pretty awful.

You left zero margin for error for the defense.

And still had 60 yards to go which there was next to 0 percent chance we’re going to do in 2 minutes.

Clock also doesn't matter if we don't get a touchdown

End of the first half, 4th and 4 on Iowa's 25 with like 30 seconds left, we let the clock run down to 9 seconds and call TO. Another option would have been to try to draw Iowa offsides by pretending to go for it. At least leaving more time on the clock would have given us the option to go for it. Maybe it's just a small thing but it still shows a lack of thought or indecision. Maybe the clock management didn't matter in the end, but it's more telling of the mindset of the team/coaching when there is no sense of urgency when you need as many possessions as you can get.

So he has to be positive with a young team but that is insane. I love CMC and what he's done for the program the last 14 games... well. I'm beginning to wonder if that time is not coming. Just like I loved Rhodes for his devotion to the program, even if not the greatest coach.

But his press conferences are painful, the team is painful. Even in wins. Yes, Iowa State is not Georgia. Yes, we're not going to out talent people.

Neither is Duke, Wake Forest, Kansas, Kansas State, etc. Yet they are seem to be trending upwards.

He talks all the time of things needing to start with him but then he doesn't change anything. Same boring predictable offense. Clock management. Same inconsistent special teams. And then he turns around and acts defiant when questioned about it.
Yes, after 8 years, we’ve seen what he is about as a coach. Margins and culture. Neither one is very specific about winning games.

Nothing like a back breaking 7 minute drive down by 14 in the 4th quarter. That was the most boneheaded thing I think I’ve ever seen

Edit: I was absolutely losing my mind at this during the game. No one else seemed to care
oh you weren't alone. me and those booing in the stadium were with you

Whitver spent the entire reaction show ball washing for Campbell and saying he put is in the spot to win

Hell I don't think he has ever came back from 10 down to win at ISU. Stat people please prove me wrong.

I noticed that too- they cutoff every caller that tried to gripe about the click management. I love the reaction show- but be honest guys and tell us they stink when they stink…don’t carry water for the coaches just because it’s uncomfortable.
no way I could listen to that. I was too mad

What......7 dropped passes, a pick six and a blocked FG right? And you think that's the best ISU has played against Iowa since you have been here?

Matt.....you are peeing on our leg and we know it. Stop telling us it's rain.
The fact that he can’t come out and say as a team, we’re not getting it done is telling.

I thought it was the worse crowd for an ISU-Iowa game than I can ever remember. Everyone seemed indifferent in my section. Probably because we’ve all seen that game 10x before.

I wasn’t too upset, unfortunately, this is what we have come to expect from our offense. I said this last year, but anytime we’re late in a game and we need our offense to score, they don’t. Our offense cannot score when we need them down the stretch.

further, our offense is not built to go 70 yards in 1:45- it’s just not going to happen. I watched us take waaaay too long to get that score in the 4th qtr and knew the game was over when we got the ball back at the end. No way our offensive coaches are going to get it done on that scenario.

I remember thinking at the time we should go for that 1st down at the end of the 1st half.

I Understand not throwing the players under the bus, but man up and say as a coaching staff we have improvements to make, and then try to do them.
Last year, he waited until the back half of the season to blame the players. I expect the same this year.

And the “culture” or whatever corpo buzz phrase you want to use was just shattered by a bunch of players ******* around with gambling.
