Oky State losing to Duke 38-9. Wow, they miss Riley.

There are a couple of idiots posting on Cyclone Report this afernoon that our gals suck (they are morons). I wonder how they would feel to be down like that as OSU fans.

I just checked in late to track the game online. I figured Sisters wouldn't allow 40 ... under-30 is nice, too.

ISU was on a 60-9 run at one point. Columbia went about 15 minutes w/out a FG? Sweet.

Moron is being too nice. OSU wasn't that great last year without her although they won in the first round of the NCAA's without her. They had another senior, Tegan Cunningham that may have been just as important as Riley.

I didn't even bother posting in that thread since my initial thoughts would have probably gotten me banded. The one comment on Bill was so stupid that I thought at first it was joke but he was serious.

Nice to see the posts playing better today even with the weak opponent. Harris also had some nice assists to the posts....hope we see more of that from her.

Checked to answer my own question - Ivy League schools do not have athletic scholarships. There can be generous need based scholarships and athletic coaches can ease the academic standards for a recruit, but, it is tough to put together a team that is competitive with NCAA Div. 1. That makes Princeton's NCAA success a few years ago more impressive. I think the Columbia ladies gave a good effort and this experience will serve them well in their conference play. And, I'm sure they're grateful that the weather gave them another night in central Iowa.

Hi BenEClone, I was actually going to answer your question this morning but you beat me to it! I did my Ph.D. at Cornell and they don't offer athletic scholarships (it's an Ivy League policy for all 8 schools in the conference), but they do have what appears to be a not-so-subtle "wink wink nudge nudge" kind of situation where kids with serious athletic skills are sheparded through the otherwise brutal admissions process (and are generally given other kinds of scholarships plus tutoring support). I taught a student at Cornell who was on their #1 ranked wrestling team and I don't know how he had time to keep up on his studies while also being in sports AND paying for the degree himself. I was also friends with several kids on the rowing team, and they always seemed pushed to the max.
