Bot Flies

I was watching Animal Planet tonight. They were doing a segment on bot flies. They are a fly that lays eggs on mosquitoes, and if you get bit by that mosquitoe, you could get infected and have the bot fly larvae hatch in your body. the only way to get them out is to cover the hole they entered in so they can't get any air. they will pop partially out and you grab it with tweezers. very painful. i found a video that has a guy having 3 removed from around his elbow. disgusting. you may be a bit itchy after watching. enjoy.

Was in Belize for vacation 2008 for a sailing venture on 2 cats...42' and 45'. Beautiful part of the world if off the mainland!

One guy had expensive scotch mixing it with local ice...out of a cooler...RED FLAG... while the rest of us set a charter record of cases of beer "Belikin Beer" loaded on their vessels..well he ended up with boils that took 3 months to get rid of.

There is something to say about being home in the USA. Who knows what you will catch in a tropical environment.

ya, that's what I thought. the guy on the show had over 200 bites and got 2 in his legs. these things eat your flesh from the inside and have these teeth all the way around. when you pull them out, they try to clamp down and crawl back in.
