Not my circus, not my images...
Yeah. Top one is a Hawk.

Indigo Bunting (not my image). What a lovely little creature. View attachment 149382

Crazily enough indigos aren’t really blue. The blue color is how the light reflects in their feathers. I guess that’s a thing with a lot of blue colored birds but it’s weird to me.

A few years ago my mom had one that would sing to her. It would perch on the fence post closest to the porch where they’d sit and watch the birds come in at night to eat at the feeders. He would just sit there and look at my parents and sing.

Tent camped at Lacey Keosauqua. This is what woke us up one morning. Blue Grosbeak. Don’t have an image that works.

Don't get them up in Twin Cities much. There used to be a locally famous pair that nested each year near the Flying Cloud Airport softball fields but they were not there last year.

Was trying to find them once and after striking out I got back to the parking lot and there the male was having a "fight" with my car mirror.

Got my first eBird correction email today so guess I have officially arrived. Saw a warbler when up in NW Iowa along Blackhawk Lake. Merlin sound was telling me it was a Black and White. The picture ID said it was a Blackpoll. Comparing pictures it looked closer to Blackpoll. Got an email this morning that says actually it was a Chestnut-sided Warbler which looking at that option I now agree with.

Not my image. What a classic looking bird. I love it. The chesnutt/copper stripe down the side. Really nice find.

Daughter texted that she saw a Tennessee Warbler out of her apartment window - Freddy Court.

Not her picture...
The pastels in this image are unreal. The supper soft bokeh in the image. Wow, definitely a bucket list image. Tell your daughter- thank you for sharing her experiences. My first time viewing a "Tennessee Warbler."

Checked out pioneer ridge in southern Iowa today and was a gold mine of birds. Crossed a few off my life list - Indigo Bunting, Warbling Vireo, Eastern Bluebird. Have seen them before in my life but not since using eBird. Didn’t get great pictures of them but this oriole sat and sang to me for a while.

Merlin heard way more than I saw. Need to be better and finding birds that clearly are in the tree I’m standing right next to.

Orioles are about my favorite. Most years they stick around for a fairly long time. And they are so pretty. I also love Indigo Buntings, but they don't stick around as long and there are fewer of them. And Scarlett Tanagers, which seem to stick around even less.

Speaking of Indigo Buntings, here's one of two that were racing laps around Westwood Hills Nature Center in the Twin Cities metro tonight when they weren't singing up a storm for the gals. All you could see was two flashes of blue when they were doing their Indy 500 thing.

Merlin was picking up Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and Scarlet Tanagers but I could not get a glimpse of them. A decent photo of the little Blue-grays is on my photographer want list.

I didn’t think bald eagles had flight patterns other than variable weather related things, but they have been flying over our yard every day in a line for about a month. Usually two or three adults and about a dozen juveniles. I have seen nests in areas about a mile away. Not sure why this pattern every day unless they think the dog or I are going to croak soon.

I wasn’t very prepared to take a picture this morning and had to snap this quickly through my deck rail but caught this red head hanging out. Also caught the jay likely crapping all over my patio furniture right before a bunch of visitors show up for my sons graduation.
