Not my circus, not my images...
Indigo Bunting (not my image). What a lovely little creature. View attachment 149382
Tent camped at Lacey Keosauqua. This is what woke us up one morning. Blue Grosbeak. Don’t have an image that works.
Picked one up on Merlin over the weekend but couldn't spot it.Indigo Bunting (not my image). What a lovely little creature. View attachment 149382
Got my first eBird correction email today so guess I have officially arrived. Saw a warbler when up in NW Iowa along Blackhawk Lake. Merlin sound was telling me it was a Black and White. The picture ID said it was a Blackpoll. Comparing pictures it looked closer to Blackpoll. Got an email this morning that says actually it was a Chestnut-sided Warbler which looking at that option I now agree with.
Sadly I got a pretty poor picture and there was a branch right in the way of the stripeView attachment 149396
Not my image. What a classic looking bird. I love it. The chesnutt/copper stripe down the side. Really nice find.
The pastels in this image are unreal. The supper soft bokeh in the image. Wow, definitely a bucket list image. Tell your daughter- thank you for sharing her experiences. My first time viewing a "Tennessee Warbler."Daughter texted that she saw a Tennessee Warbler out of her apartment window - Freddy Court.

Not her picture...
Orioles are about my favorite. Most years they stick around for a fairly long time. And they are so pretty. I also love Indigo Buntings, but they don't stick around as long and there are fewer of them. And Scarlett Tanagers, which seem to stick around even less.
Checked out pioneer ridge in southern Iowa today and was a gold mine of birds. Crossed a few off my life list - Indigo Bunting, Warbling Vireo, Eastern Bluebird. Have seen them before in my life but not since using eBird. Didn’t get great pictures of them but this oriole sat and sang to me for a while.
Merlin heard way more than I saw. Need to be better and finding birds that clearly are in the tree I’m standing right next to.
I was standing in about that exact spot when Merlin was going nuts with Indigo Buntings all around me. Was some thick brush in the area and took me quite a while to spot the little skitterish guysView attachment 149435
Definitely a beautiful place.
How big is the dog?I didn’t think bald eagles had flight patterns other than variable weather related things, but they have been flying over our yard every day in a line for about a month. Usually two or three adults and about a dozen juveniles. I have seen nests in areas about a mile away. Not sure why this pattern every day unless they think the dog or I are going to croak soon.
