Got an interview coming up and wanted to see if anyone on here works at ISU. I've worked in higher education for awhile and I'm excited to have an opportunity to at least interview at ISU. Any information you can share about your experiences would be great as well.

I do, but its for the golf course so I am guessing my area of expertise won't help you.

sweet benefits. not to worry about healthcare...that is for the other suckers.
tiacreff will triple your money, again, don't worry about the fiscal cliff on any of that because they will print money to insure those returns politically.
good hours.
good recreation offerings. good basketball, womens basketball, and volleyball.
insulated from all the mean people.
no worries.

I agree with this. Benfits are out of this world. Makes up for what they lack in pay. You get to walk through campus every day, which is cool. Plus, you're right there for all the sporting events. I know when I worked there, we always had a bunch of people coming to stay on FB weekends. And even though as you get older, Welch Ave isn't as appealing, Main St has some decent places and Ames overall is a great town to live in. Lots of bigger city ammenities without the crowds and traffic. I know I enjoyed the changes in seasons with the energy the students bring in August and then a slower, relaxing summer without the normal masses of students around town.

The benefits are so good, but mine are better, and they give us $1,500 in flex spending since my wife doesn't use her insurance. Other benefits are nice. Seems pretty laid back and easy from what i hear.

My son makes minimum wage doing problems in some prof's textbook he is writing. Says it is his easiest job ever, that probably won't help you out much. He wants better engineering profs so if that is what you are interviewing for, good luck.

I believe the OP was asking about the interview, not the experiences of the job. That's how I read it anyway...

Like any job it is who you know not what you know. There are many around campus that were hired in this way. It will all come down to who is interviewing you. Sorry I can't be of more help.
