So has anyone experienced this. I purchased a big ticket item from Amazon during a recent Amazon event at like 30% off. About 2 weeks later i found the same it even cheaper elsewhere. So was going to contact Amazon about applying a price match. When i went to validate what i paid, i come to find out Amazon credited me back the entire amount of what I paid

Now i suspect there is some Algorithm that finds lower prices and is supposed to credit you the difference.
But in this case it credited the entire amount.

It was a $3000 item. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Going to contact Amazon this week to get it squared away Just strange

Sounds like a great deal but no. I did have a package of random stuff I didn't order show up on my doorstep from Amazon one day. A nice bluetooth speaker and portable charger. I use them a lot.

I find that a lot of times the percent off on items in Amazon is BS. I almost always check CamelCamelCamel to see the price history on expensive items and usually something that is listed on sale is at that price fairly consistently and at times in the past was even cheaper.

Normally I am against this kind of thing but it's Amazon. I would wait for them to figure it out.

They spent like 750 million buying the rights to and developing a Lord of the Rings TV show. They are fine without your 3k.

Whether you contact them or not I don't think there is any way Amazon is going to take any of the money they credited you back. I wouldn't worry about it myself.

I ordered a speaker from Amazon and never got it. So I cancelled it and went to best buy to buy one. A week later they delivered my speaker and I was never charged for it. I now have two speakers for the price of one.

Husband likes to order things like exercise equipment that is really heavy from Amazon because the free Prime shipping plops it on the front porch.

He did have some garden item he ordered that cost $14 and the Amazon seller kept sending it to three different places in town but not us. They gave us an Amazon credit. Weeks later they sent us three of the item. So at some point we need to tell them we shouldn’t have the $42+ credit.

Had a friend move to Florida and purchased a generator off Amazon for backup power to his house during tropical storm/hurricane season. It came slightly damaged like a pallet jack had hit the box too hard and bent some of the metal tubing it sits on but generator still worked. He called and asked if he could return it for one not damaged and Amazon told him to keep the damaged one and sent him another one free of charge. So basically got a 2 for 1 deal because of some minor damage that didn't affect the functionality of the product.

We've had some orders not arrive and Amazon was not able to track down the package from the shipping vendor then weeks later the lost one showed up after we already got a replacement item sent to us. Amazon doesn't care to get those back either apparently. We've also received items we didn't order but were included by mistake with an order we received and they've told us to just keep those too. Usually they aren't expensive items though and we usually just wind up donating whatever it is if we don't have a use for it.

I've heard stories like your first paragraph from others. Not necessarily an item that big or heavy, but just damaged or lost goods in general.

My guess is that it costs more for Amazon to pay for the shipping and handling of the returning the item than the profit they originally received on it, thus why they tell people to keep it.
