Allen at Point, Scotty back to the 2

As long as he doesn't just dribble down and start launching shots from anywhere. His shot selection is far from selective.

Is luscious sp? Playing at start of year? Articles keep talking about him being eligible then and making it sound like he will play.

Lucious (no S before the C) is sittin out ALL of this year. He and Clyburn will be eligible next year.

I understand Fred's reason for experimenting with Scotty at PG, but I'm glad he's realized that it wasn't the optimum line-up for this team. Hopefully there is still time for everyone to gel in their new roles before conference play.

As much as anything, I hope this helps Scottie and gets him back into the flow. He's deadly in the right role.

I Agree 110% with your assessment, I feel sorry for Scottie having to play out of position when he is a true shooting guard who is deadly from around the 3 pt ring.

I think that Chris Allen will do better and the team will do better with Allen playing Point Guard, its a position that he is more comfortable with and has played it since his high school days. (see video in the locust street liar)

Now if we can just play better defense we can win a heckuva a lot more games.

Go Clones bury the hawk.

I'm very glad that Hoiberg decided to make a change and not continue to try and force things with Scotty as the pg.

Obviously it's too early to tell if Allen will be the answer, but I'm glad to see him tweek the lineup.

The original reason was because Allen was performing so well at the '2' in practice. It didn't work that way in games.

Allen is asserting himself at the PG role and hopefully Scotty will be able to settle in as a true 2.

If it were me, we would see mostly Babb and McGee rotating for one of the remaining spots, and then two of White, Gibson, and Ejim on the floor at most of the time as well.

This is correct. They loved him off of the ball because he could score in a variety of ways.

DG was effective last year because he could get in the lane (finishing was another story) which opened up some other shooters. Hopefully Allen has a little of that in him. We desperately need a guard who can penetrate and get to the basket and force defenders off of their guy. I love shooting threes but we tend to settle for them far to often.

Since we're talking about the lineup...does Fred start Percy over Melvin after Percy's performance on Tuesday?

I still don't think this is the solution. We have two guys that I've seen the ability to play pg, Bubu and McGee.

I wouldn't be surprised, though I bet it's still Melvin. Hoping it's Percy.

Unfortunately, it was probably more indicative of how bad our defense was than how good Allen was at the 2. Something that seemed to be a success was actually a problem.

I like Allen to run the point much more than McGee...and I love McGee's game overall.

Yeah Allen seems to run the point better, but I love McGees game.

Scotty is the ultimate team player but is best suited for the scoring guard position I think this this move will speed up the play. The season is young and there is tremendous potential for this team. BEAT IOWA!
