Allen at Point, Scotty back to the 2

This is correct. They loved him off of the ball because he could score in a variety of ways.

DG was effective last year because he could get in the lane (finishing was another story) which opened up some other shooters. Hopefully Allen has a little of that in him. We desperately need a guard who can penetrate and get to the basket and force defenders off of their guy. I love shooting threes but we tend to settle for them far to often.

I wonder if Allen's hip pointer had anything to do with him not playing point? I don't remember the time frame as to when he sustained it, and when they said Scottie would play PG

Fred is quoted saying the reason Allen didn't play point was mostly because before the season when they had Allen at the two they had "some of the best practices he'd ever seen". Apparently that did not translate to games for whatever reason.

I still think his ballhandling is a little suspect for somebody that will be on the ball the whole time, but overall I support this move. Probably the best option in a case with few good options.

I think the ball needs to go down to White on the block every possession...especially when Percy is in there...they looked like they'd been playing together for years on Tuesday. Could've been a result of the defense we were playing against though.

I agree, though I'm not sure we do the best job of getting it to him "in the post". Seems like we get it to him when he's about 12 feet from the basket. Not sure if that is by design to take advantage of his driving ability, if he doesn't do the best job of getting position, or if we just don't pass it at the right time.

I'd love to see him get the ball inside 8' or so, as I think he has some good moves and his strength makes him hard to stop.

I agree but the truth is, he is the best ball handler of the starting 5.

Personally I believe that just because he is now the starting point guard rather than Scottie does not necessarily mean that it isn't still point guard by committee. I'm certain you will see others (Bubu, McGee, Tavon and yes, even Scottie) at that position - even at times when Allen is in the game. And don't forget that at times Royce will bring the ball up and start the offense.

Allen will not be "on the ball the whole time".
