This. Marcus Freeman.

But champions aren't made by taking the easy route or being afraid to take a risk. Freeman is the bold move, he's the high upside hire, he's the risk you take knowing that if you end up being right you made the move that brings a championship to Notre Dame football.

In five years you don't want to be the athletic director or board of trustee member who passed on Marcus Freeman.

This has to be the move for Notre Dame.

Just talked with my 45 year ND booster friend and he first said the exact same thing as what @Stormin has above. Felt good about that until I told him of CMC's quotes on goals, and why he's stayed in Ames (we all know them).

My buddy's next comment was-- "Wow. I know you don't want to hear this, but that's exactly the type of person ND administration will want. You better hope Campbell doesn't get an interview."

Can you say it again? I didn't quite hear it the first 10 times

What does winning a NC do for you personally? Does it just mean that you can talk smack non-stop? Or is there some benefit I'm unaware of? I'm trying to figure out why people drop millions to pay for coaches each year.

I think this is a great question. It would be interesting to hear the perspective of one of those donors who gets tapped when a big hire needs to be made.

Another question, more of a logistical nature...take the Kelly contract where you need $9.5 million/yr for ten years...do these donors "pledge" to give the AD $1 million (or whatever) a year extra for the next ten years to cover the contract, or is the AD just worried about getting the money for the first year or two?
