But champions aren't made by taking the easy route or being afraid to take a risk. Freeman is the bold move, he's the high upside hire, he's the risk you take knowing that if you end up being right you made the move that brings a championship to Notre Dame football.
In five years you don't want to be the athletic director or board of trustee member who passed on Marcus Freeman.
This has to be the move for Notre Dame.
Just talked with my 45 year ND booster friend and he first said the exact same thing as what @Stormin has above. Felt good about that until I told him of CMC's quotes on goals, and why he's stayed in Ames (we all know them).
My buddy's next comment was-- "Wow. I know you don't want to hear this, but that's exactly the type of person ND administration will want. You better hope Campbell doesn't get an interview."
Or is it just one 45 y/o ND booster that's friends with a bunch of ISU fans?
How many people have a 45 year ND booster friend?
My dad went there and hated itI was gonna, but then everyone else did.
The only real "connection" I had at Notre Dame retired after talking with me.
I guess if Notre Dame hires Campbell or Fickell, woke espn will be all over it claiming racism.This. Marcus Freeman.

For Notre Dame There Can Only Be One Choice, Marcus Freeman
Notre Dame needs to move quickly and make Marcus Freeman its next head coachwww.si.com
I’m calling it that Marcus Freeman gets this job if Fickell says no.My dad went there and hated it
Are you OK? Did you faint while typing that last paragraph?
I guess if Notre Dame hires Campbell or Fickell, woke espn will be all over it claiming racism.
What does winning a NC do for you personally? Does it just mean that you can talk smack non-stop? Or is there some benefit I'm unaware of? I'm trying to figure out why people drop millions to pay for coaches each year.
The point in your last paragraph is what Jamie was trying to drive home.
It may have burned itself out but keep the California vs Texas taxes and politics out of this coaching thread from this point on. If you want to argue this stuff go The Cave and start a thread.
Just talked to my 94 year old ND booster friend. Word is they're bringing Lou Holtz back
