I'll give you OU, Clemson and VT. I don't think they need FSU and GT, as they already own the best teams in those areas. TAMU makes more sense than those as that's a footprint in Texas. They can always raid the ACC later. Getting the teams to the west before the PAC 10 does makes a lot of sense. They can toy with the ACC like Big 10 does with Mizzou, picking them up when they really need to.

I still think they try to pull OU. They're another team that needs to unhitch their fortunes from Texas. OSU wouldn't be bad either. Like I said, the teams to the east are there for the taking later. Got to make their play while the Big XII south teams are still available and conference is unstable. To quote the White House: "Can't let a good crisis go to waste."

You're probably right but it also narrows the list of teams available to the Big 10.
They'd have Colorado and the Oklahoma schools nearby (albeit not nearly as close as KSU, MU and ISU).

So now it's $20 million? I'd still like to know who's going to pony that kind of dough for the Big 12 (minus 2).
Beebe is pulling stuff out of his hind end right now. He's throwing mud against the wall (I hope something sticks). No way in hell does he have any solid numbers that would support a 5 year/$1 billion contract with the schools that are left in the Big 12. The only way he is getting those numbers is if he's still pitching the Pac-10/Big 12 television package. The Big 12 still has a chance, but those numbers have no chance of being accurate.
BigE is still possible if ku goes west. Memphis is offering a 10mill a year to any bcs conference to pick them up, via fedex pres. So bigE welcomes ISU, MU, KSU, and Memphis.
KU going west is NOT a death knell to our chances at the Big East. They'll just pull in UCF and Memphis. Both are large universities with legit stadiums in large TV markets.
I'd rather have KU there, just to maintain some semblance of the old days, but if they go, they go, and it's not curtains for us.

We're talking completely different situations. One guy is trying to expand his position. The other guy is trying to save his job. One guy has alot of experience and been researching this for some time. The other guy has had the foresight of a coal miner in improving the Big 12. No one probably has a contract in front of them right now. However, Beebe definitely didn't just magically get a commitment from fox in the last day and a half. I'm ****** at Beebe's poor leadership, and I think the rumors we're hearing tonight are merely hail mary's meant to slow the process a little. I'm glad they're out there as they may force Texas to wait past Tuesday, but I'm also more than skeptical that there's anything to this latest 'news.'
