    RECRUITING: Re-al Mitchell commits

Actually he wouldn't be the top recruit on Dowling Catholic's team. Defensive end John Waggoner has offers from nearly half the SEC, Big 12 and Big 10 schools. To be sure, Re-Al is ranked a lot higher than Ryan Boyle was and Boyle is Dowling Catholic's highest ranked quarterback of the past 15...

Who Starts First Game Of Conference Play?

Jakolby, unfortunately, has had to deal with injuries. You will see a lot of improvement when he gets healthy for a stretch. He can be a valuable rotation player, or even starter, down the road if he works hard enough.

CCL RECAP: Marial Shayok looking to improve during sit-out year

Nick is an excellent defender and a pretty good rebounder. He still needs to work on his mid-range offensive game and driving to the basket. No less of an expert as Fran Fraschilla said that Nick is a player who rarely makes mistakes on several broadcasts last season. Nick had a 2.4-1...

I don't know about this whole legacy thing. It sure didn't seem to work out for that Allen Lazard guy. ;)

21 Months removed - Should #3 still be retired?

You must finish your diploma requirements from Iowa State before they will put your number up in the rafters. I am not sure Fizer has finished enough credits yet.

RECRUITING: Iowa State in Zion Griffin's top four

Sorry for being that guy, but it's Timmy Allen not Teddy.

    Playing 6 road games

I agree with you. The problem is schedules are always made years in advance and it's difficult to know how good a program will be 3 or 4 years from now. When we scheduled North Dakota State they were coming off a 3-8 season. They have gone 6-0 against FBS/Division I programs since, including...

    Playing 6 road games

I would much rather play a 2-for-1, or ideally a 3-for-1 series with a MAC team then to play a FCS/Division IAA school. P.S. Northern Iowa played a game in between the Wisconsin and Iowa games in 2012. They can't use the excuse that the experienced a let down after playing two Power 5 schools.

    Playing 6 road games

Not a big fan of playing Northern Iowa. Coach Farley always has his teams extra motivated when they play Power 5 schools, and then his teams tank after that. Last season, the Panthers preceded to lose 4 of their next 5 games after beating us. And it's not just us. In 2012, UNI lost to Wisconsin...

NBA: Niang Signs With Golden State

Those guys will not be with the Warriors their entire careers. Not with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson pulling down max contracts.

DI Men's Basketball Committee redefines quality win

I heard the NCAA Selection Committee is moving away from using the RPI rating as a primary criterion. Are they going to factor in other ratings: Sagarin or KenPom as examples?

NBA: Niang Signs With Golden State

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and especially Kevin Durant better watch out. They are going to quickly see their playing time cut. ;);)

    Officer Cory Morrissey

On a serious note, a similar thing happened to me on the Drake campus, though probably not by campus security and it was a Cyclone license plate holder instead. I know a lot of Cyclone fans are going to say that I kind of had it coming to me by going to an in-state rivals campus with rival...

    Downtown Areas and Shops

That would describe Valley Junction, which is in the historical part of West Des Moines on 5th Street. There are numerous antique shops among other unique businesses. If you do decide to hit up Valley Junction, here are two tips: Do hit up The Tavern. They have the best pizza anywhere and it...

BLOG: A few notes on the 2017-18 basketball schedule

If he arrives on campus, that will be good news. That "might" put the game on ESPN and possibly in a good time slot. Don't ever doubt the positive effects of national coverage. More importantly, this could give us a game on the road against a half-way decent Power 5 school. Win or lose, we will...
