Horror movie fans. Oof.

Not sure who’s seen the trailer for this new horror movie. I don’t take horror movies lightly. I love a few. Hate a lot more. But I love going to them.

This is one of the most ****** up visceral grotesque disturbing yet at the same time incredibly sad and visually stunning horror movies I can recall.

Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (Shape of Water) is absolutely brilliant in this role and while she won’t be nominated for awards because it’s a horror movie she should be. She’s better than Toni Collette in Hereditary in my opinion.

Won’t be for everyone. I don’t do body horror to well and this is next level. No joke I spent probably 15 honest minutes not able to look at the screen.

But for general horror fans this is a must. It’s just a really truly well done movie that happens to be horror amped up. This will stick with me awhile.

Genre aside I often will just go see a movie because of who's in it. And Sally Hawkins has had my attention since Blue Jasmine. Amazing actor. Thanks for the heads up.

It’s not for the faint of heart. The amount of people in our showing saying ‘Jesus ******* Christ…’ At several parts was a lot haha. But truly it’s just a good damn movie. And yes the fact an actress like her signed up for this kinda tells you it’s solid.

I'll see whatever the Philippou bros put out. They went from making YouTube content to absolutely nailing their studio debut with Talk to Me. Dudes know what they're doing.

Holy hell...
It doesn’t even do it justice. It’s a lot.

I’ve been looking up TikTok reviews to see if I’m just out to lunch on it being so great but also how graphic it is and for people to prepare and basically everyone loves it but says be ready.

Here’s the trailer but i highly suggest just going in not knowing a damn thing.

Even after watching the trailer I went into this without knowing anything. It's not like so many movies where after you see the trailer you feel like you've seen the whole thing. Very freaky movie.

I give A24 a lot of credit for bringing original stories to the screen.

Yeah I remember seeing the trailer awhile back and forgot about it then last night a bunch of us decided to see a movie and that won the vote. Best to go on not knowing much.

I saw the trailer a while back and watched it again after you started this thread. Then I decided to go to the matinee.

I saw this last night based on your recommendation. Thank heavens I was the only one in the theater. I generally do not have a queasy stomach, but there were scenes that made my stomach turn. "Visceral" is correct but somehow not strong enough to describe it. I drove home in a daze. What an impressive movie.

Sally Hawkins is fantastic and terrifying at times.

I don't know if I can ever watch it again, but this movie approaches Hereditary and Midsommar in my list of all time...is 'favorites' the right word? Maybe 'most indelible'.

late 90s Japanese "The Audition" is a little like that and also better the less you know (some of the movie posters and video covers give away too much).

Yup. And the sounds are just as awful even if you’re closing your eyes. Haha. I had a buddy literally balled up with his face in his arm and his hands covering his ears at a few parts.

But yes all that being said I can’t stop recommending it. It’s not for everyone. But it really is just a good movie that is visceral as ****.

It’s also a bummer this really won’t get a bigger audience in theaters. It only made $7m this weekend which even for a horror movie isn’t good. Deserves a lot more eyeballs.

I was surprised how emotional I was at the end.

I cried when Ollie/Colin was found and he said his name.
