That's one on my radar. Worth it?Currently reading Dungeon Crawler Carl. Its really stupid, but I am enjoying the humor and gruesome nature.
Who is the author? I would like to read this too.So it goes....
Currently reading a book called Aftermath. Hits the era between the end of WWII and 1955 in Germany
Last year a book that I enjoyed was Beyond the Wall - A History of East Germany
Germany has an "interesting" time in the 1900s
I've tried multiple times to get through that, and it's such a slog. Same thing goes for Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Like many people, I assume, I decided to read it after watching Apocalypse Now, thinking "I loved the movie. Surely the book that it's based on is awesome too!"I’ve been reading Moby ****, off and on, since October. Have about a sixth of it left. Good lord. It’s a difficult read.
I'm stuck on the Sam Johnstone legal thrillers by James Chandler. I think I'm on book 6 by now in the 8-book set. With the "main sports seasons" out of the way, I've found myself some more free time and have started up a new book series: The Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks. I'm only halfway through the first book, but it's got me locked in... excited to se where it goes.
Exciting part about this series, is that I know it is complete. I've given up hope on Rothfuss and RR Martin.
After this is done I'll likely throw in a classic or two to change it up. What's everyone else been reading?
It’s an ass kicker. I’ll probably go pick Heart of Darkness up next. Just keep on punishing myself.I've tried multiple times to get through that, and it's such a slog. It's not.
I finished it, but damn...
You should read: The Boy who Followed His Father to Auschwitz. Great read. The Survivor: How I Made it Through Six Concentration Camps and Became a Nazi Hunter by Josef Lewkowicz
I started "re-reading" those last summer doing audiobooks. Got through book 5. Haven't worked up the courage for the 6-10 slog (although #9 Winter's Heart was one of my favorites. Normally I don't like audiobooks as I tend to space out for portions, but since I've already read all the books, I'm not worried about missing some stuff.Doing my reread of WoT as well. About at the end of Book 3.

I just finished book 5 of Dungeon Crawler Carl. These books are a ton of fun, fast paced and ridiculous. More than a little dark, as well.Currently reading Dungeon Crawler Carl. Its really stupid, but I am enjoying the humor and gruesome nature.
Have you read any of the Zoey Ashe books by David Wong/Jason Pargin?I just finished book 5 of Dungeon Crawler Carl. These books are a ton of fun, fast paced and ridiculous. More than a little dark, as well.
I personally think the Zoey Ashe, as well as John Dies at the End, are better but Dungeon Crawler Carl is also solid and they are somewhat similar. DCC really leaned into the idea that it was life turned into a video game, and the first half or so reminded me a little too much of Ready Player One in that regard. Definitely finished strong though, and I did pick up the 2nd book for whenever I get around to it.Have you read any of the Zoey Ashe books by David Wong/Jason Pargin?
That sounds like it might be in a similar vein.
Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits, Zoey Punches the Future in the ****, and Zoey is too Drunk for this Dystopia.
I'd highly recommend them. Surreal, hyper violent, and very funny.
John Dies at the End is absolutely twisted.
