So does death. It has positives and negatives
People die in the waiting room more often than you think.I have a high tolerance for pain, but I'm a total wuss when I get sick. Just had covid last week and then I had to go to the ER a couple times this week for stomach issues and severe anxiety. The other day I kept telling the lady at the front desk that I couldn't breathe and that my left arm was numb. They said "I'll go in the back and tell the nurse." Nobody even checked on me and it took 4 hours until they finally called my name. You could die in that waiting room and it would take a long time for anyone to even notice.
They gave me a script for nausea and another for stomach pain. They seem to be working, I think.
I might be confused but weren’t you an EMT? You have me curious what your primary complaint was now…Let me know when you are standing outside the ER early in the morning and when you buzz to get in they ask you what’s wrong and they tell you that you aren’t that bad and just call after 8 and schedule a clinic appointment. At that point, you lose a bunch of faith in that ER.
I like Mucinex. For me just keeping the congestion under control is what matters. Then you can actually breath and sleep. They also make combo medicines for flu symptoms too.
I was in harvest season so my hours were long. My throat was red, my tonsils rock hard and I couldn’t even drink water without tipping my head forward, sucking in water and then swallowing. If I didn’t do that I couldn’t swallow because my tonsils were too big. I was tired and running a light temp. Chance it could just be strep but all appointments were 3 days out and I wanted meds faster.I might be confused but weren’t you an EMT? You have me curious what your primary complaint was now…
Tripling down on the Mucinex advice. Switched to that in the last year and is by far the best OTC meds I've had for congestion problems.
I keep telling you that if it involves a tourniquet and a needle, it's not cold medicine.I almost always just roll with it. Sometimes I will take Mucinex but cold medicine makes me feel goofy and I really don't find it super beneficial.
When you are dependent on a CPAP to sleep, you need to have clear sinuses & nasal passages. I can gut it out in the daytime, but nights are a different story.I almost always just roll with it. Sometimes I will take Mucinex but cold medicine makes me feel goofy and I really don't find it super beneficial.
I was taken by ambulance and still waited 4 hours... This morning I had to go in again so I drove myself to a different hospital and I was in the waiting room for 2 minutes. They took me to the back right away and got the tests started. Everything came back normal so most likely it's stress related. I was there a total of 2 hours. Only complaint with this hospital is that their beds are very uncomfortable.People die in the waiting room more often than you think.
Honestly 4 hours is pretty good with what you presented with and assuming you drove yourself in. You would be looking at double that time where I am.
Glad you got it sorted!I was taken by ambulance and still waited 4 hours... This morning I had to go in again so I drove myself to a different hospital and I was in the waiting room for 2 minutes. If I can drive myself I will do that I don't have to figure out a ride when I get to leave. But the other day the anxiety was so bad that I couldn't drive.Glad you got it sorted!
Unfortunately coming in by ambulance doesn’t move you any farther up the lines of triage. A lot of people automatically assume it does (not saying that’s you) but glad you found another facility.
