And they have had a couple great seasons but for the most part, they are who they are. 8-4, 7-5. There was a time that's all I ever wanted for Iowa State too. But with CMC at the helm I have hope that we will be even better because we can get skill guys and he is developing other areas as well.

CMC is going to have to significantly up his recruiting at ISU to get to a consistent 9-3, 10-2 type seasons. It isn't easy to do at all.

So the only way you can properly develop someone is if they make it to the NFL? College production just doesn't matter?

ISU does not have a strong track record of developing WRs. Not sure that is exactly controversial.

I think we have a chance to get 9-3 or 10-2 this year. Do that and recruiting will increase greatly. We are getting more attention nationally than I can ever remember us getting. A big season and we will be on radars we've never been on before.

He might, but to consistently finish at those kind of records you need recruiting classes in the 20s.

I think after our big year this year we will put together some big time recruiting classes. I'm not talking Alabama or Clemson, but big time for the state of Iowa.

Of course it is OK, just a little early to say they have a strong track record of developing WRs. They are off to a good start though.
So we are basing that 100% off of getting drafted?

I think I’d base it more on how they produce on Saturday, but I understand there are a few other parameters.

Have you seen the production our WRs have put up under Campbell? If that's not development is he just that great at recruiting the position?

So Ferentz took over for Fry in 2001?

Nope, he took over in 1999. Took him a few years to get the program back on its feet. Since 2001, he has averaged 8.5 wins. That is a long time of having continued success.

After more thought, I might actually put Fry in third place.

I would rank them as:

1) Evy
2) Howard Jones
3) Fry
4) Ferentz

Took him a few years to get the program back after replacing the legendary Hayden Fry but Campbell won 8 games in his second year replacing Paul Rhoads?

Kirk Ferentz, averaging .5 more wins per year at Iowa (since 2001) than Matt Campbell at ISU (since 2017).

KF took over a bad 3-8 team. It took him three years to get to a bowl game. Campbell took over a 3-9 team and it took him two years to get to a bowl game. What's the problem here?
