I wonder how Prohm and his staff will handle the recruitment of Grill, the transfers, and Nadolny. No clue how you juggle the possibility of THT and Lindell coming back, although it seems as if neither will be back. The scholarship situation is odd in the spring recruiting cycle.

Stuff is going to happen so fast that I think, if you want a guy and he wants you, you take 'em. This is not like the fall cycle where you can hold spots for guys.

We do not have much precedent or experience for how to handle this, though.

I think you have to play it as they're gone. Cant sit around and let guys go for the seemingly slim chance there guys come back

Lindell probably should have gone after his freshman year. I don't see how his draft stock improved by staying another year.

THT was so hot and cold, I could see him getting drafted or not. It all depends on what film the NBA guys choose to watch.

It seemed obvious to me that Lard was leaving. I'm sure he appreciated Prohm trying to help him, but I imagine it felt like he was never going to meet the expectations of the coach, and the Bib12 refs were way to quick to call fouls on him that they let go for other players.

Next year will be interesting. It could be a repeat of 2017/18 or Prohm could find a couple of gems.

Long term I am concerned that Prohm prefers playing only 7-8 players. I think that hurts us. Beard went much deeper and Huggins always plays a lot of players. If he wants to have better defense he needs to play more players, defense requires a lot of energy and guys need to take a blow frequently.

Should we hire Franny?

Then again Fran plays a lot of players also. I am not worried about that. The best part of only playing that many is you can compete if you get a few breaks every year. If you are like Mad Fran and need 11-12 guys to play every game. You need to recruit that way.

I would think this is a really tough situation for a coach. Would it be bad to gain the reputation of a coach that says once you say you are exploring the NBA you can't come back? It seems that kind of thing would hurt going forward during the recruiting of the top players out of high school. However, playing the waiting game puts coaches in an almost impossible place. I'm not sure how you handle it.

My two cents and just my speculation, but I would guess if we signed all three slots and one of THT or Lindell came back, those nearer the end of the bench that stayed hoping to earn minutes this year with those departures would likely reconsider and transfer somewhere that they thought would get them a higher likelihood of PT.

Wonder if Surly is going to be upset with this somehow....:D
Grill will pick the school that fits his needs. And yes, I hope once he does that he stays and graduates. K-State has several young guards in place: Diarra, McGuirl, Neal-Williams, Gordon. That will work to ISU's benefit. Obviously, playing in Manhattan would be easier for his family and, presumably, he has friends at K-State already or destined to go to school here. UNLV has to be in the mix with T.J. coaching there now. We'll see. I will say that Weber and Grill seem a logical fit.

If I had to rank them for odds:

1. KSU
2. ISU
3. UNLV
4. Creighton

It would seem he wants to play in a more up and down wide open offense so I would put ISU on top. He also said KSU being in his home state would have no bearing on his decision.

I would have ISU on top because the kid is from Maize and what better place for a kid from Maize to go than the maize capitol of the world.
What a hopelessly corny post. Makes me want to tear my ears off. Though there might be a kernel of truth to it. Regardless of what the kid decides, let's not turn into stalkers.

I'll show myself out.
