The ATR and "here are the keys" as a sophomore are shockingly like Monté's story, along with the "might need to redshirt as a freshman... no, wait, you're going to be starting."

We can get Haliburton to score 10ppg and play with the ball in his hand a lot more than this year.

I honestly would like to see Prohm slow the game down some in the half court, and let Haliburton do what he does best.... value the ball. We would need to move the ball around via passes more compared with all the iso stuff we saw with Wigginton and Shayok though. You see this with Virginia and K-State. You also see this with a lot of mid-major programs.

The keys for us next year:

1- Find a primary scorer (go-to guy)
2- Play better D overall like we did in the first 2/3 of this season
3- Rebound better

If we can do that, we'll have a puncher's chance at the Tournament again.

Shoot the ball more. He needs to work on his confidence. Play a little more selfish.

Tyrese has the ability to get to the paint, but he'll have to show he's willing to do it. This year's scouting report had to be something like 'great in the open court but will only shoot uncontested 3s.'

I would append to this that I think we need to speed up overall -- Tyrese was always hawking for lazy passes on the perimeter and pretty deadly when finishing.

I can see a case to be slower in the half-court, but I think we need to speed up overall. We are not going to have the volume guys who can dependably break down even good defenders in the Big 12 one-on-one like Shayok, Wigginton, and Horton-Tucker next year. We might need to "muck up" games and break up a half-court monotony more often.

See the above --

"However, if he gets loose going the other way, he is a pretty creative finisher at the rim and has a nice Euro step. He is long and will look to pick off errant passes."

"His limited 'shot-creation' in the half-court is not the case in the full-court."

TH had the kind of season where he played his role so well.....that people wanted him to change his role! I seriously think he was the only guy on the team who knew how to move the ball and create open shots for LW and shayok, or lay-ups for big guys.

And no one talks about how OSU got the lead on us as soon as TH went to the bench - the kid was invaluable on defense making up for THT/Babb/LW lackadaisical approach to, I don't know, paying attention and guarding someone!!

This kid is just scratching the surface...he's going to be great next year.

Slowing the game down is something I definitely hope they don't do.

Yeah, Tyrese is great in the open court and I think Conditt is a big that can get up and down. Griffin is a good athlete who could use his athleticism in the open court better than probably being in a half court set where he is still developing his game.

Barttorvik tempo rankings...

2011 = 70.4 #33
2012 = 67.1 #120
2013 = 69.6 #36
2014 = 71.6 #14
2015 = 69.9 #16
2016 = 72.3 #47
2017 = 69.6 #177
2018 = 70.1 #136
2019 = 69.1 #166

I think it might be time to speed that up again.

The fact we played so slow with 4/1 is strange to me, however. I thought the point of adding guards to a lineup was to increase the pace and run big men off the court.

Speeding up when playing 4/2, with somebody like Jacobson at the 4...

...well, that has an odd feel to it.

He got in the paint a lot this season but he rarely if ever got to the rim. That’s the next step.

I can't make much of an opinion on how to play next year until I know the roster. Haliburton HAS to be a scoring threat for us to make any hay. That much I know.
