I'm pretty boring. I like vanilla ice cream and white bread. Once I settle on a restaurant I tend to get the same thing there, over and over. But...I'm interested to know, what is your favorite burrito? Where do you get it and what do you get on it?

A couple of years ago I would have said Pancheros but it just isn't what it once was. My new go to is the Carne Asada burrito from Abelardo's.

I'll get hammered for this but the Taco Johns meat and potato burrito is delicious.

I used to be a black beans guy but I switched to pinto and never looked back. Black beans are for gringos

Burrito threads tend to get pretty heated on CF. Have plenty of local places where I live that serve up some great burritos, but if we’re talking chain burrito places this is my typical go-to order:

Pancheros (can’t beat that fresh pressed tortilla):

Steak (if I’m feeling adventurous, one scoop chicken and one scoop steak)
Black beans
Rice
Cheese
Sour cream
Pico
Corn salsa
Mild salsa
Queso

Not a huge fan of the Panchero’s red hot sauce (too smoky for me) but love to top off my burrito with some of their green sauce.

The orange taco truck on 14th ST near Grandview is amazing. I usually get the chorizo burrito. Es muy bueno! There is also a black taco truck that parks near East's football field that is pretty good too. (sorry I don't know the names of the trucks. Me and my coworkers just call them out by color. Is that racist?)

Fighting Burrito downtown is a close 2nd.

Long story short... if there are taco trucks near you, I highly recommend them.

edit: I forgot about El Rey in West Des Moines. They make a burrito called the "Rey Rey" that is the size of you hand and forearm.

(1) Pancheros on Welch, circa 1997 (pre-"corporate")
The "El Gordo"

(2) Flying Burrito, pre-name change, Lincoln Way location
When the portions were big, and the prices were low

The El Gordo was something special.
