    He did turn down the Mills character, you’re right. Would have been a huge mistake to cast him alongside Freeman in that role, IMO. Pitt played that part with a perfect cocky naïveté that I’m not sure Denzel could have pulled off, and that was the character “flaw” that created the amazing payoff.

The studio wanted Charlton Heston to play Brody, but he was too big of a name for the role in Spielberg’s mind.     Not sure about that, but Adderall does curb appetite, while providing energy boosts and extreme focus. A person can crush workouts when that’s all they think about and never get tired.
