La Fuente: Margarita Challenge! I projectile vomited in their bathroom after completing this challenge.

My addition: the wing place in the West Ames Hy-Vee strip mall. Cira 2006, they had 25 cent wings and they were pretty good.
A bunch of us went fall 2007 as freshmen and demolished wings and got served zero ID. We thought we were kings of town.

Es Tas has a legal notice on the door dated on Monday and it appears shuttered until further notice.
That's odd because they sent out a snap story yesterday at 8 advertising their taco special.

Not exactly sure.
Almost ate at brick city before the game Saturday. Well, it was always empty in there so not a huge surprise.

Weird that sounds like it was still in the same general area, but business suffered. Not familiar with the north ames area.

Yeah, seems strange. There had to be other reasons for the lack of customers. Hadn’t been there in 4 years or so but I was always solid.

I’ve been there a few times over the past few years and staff did not seem that friendly. A few others said the same thing. Went there once and sat at the bar and bartender didn’t even acknowledge us. Never had good vibes even when they were across the street.

I would imagine the new space seats 3x what the previous space did and I'll bet the rent matches. They really had it perfected in their old location. They knew what they were and embraced it. They had a LOT of demand they couldn't satisfy.

Then they went to a space that isn't a sports bar and tried to make it one. It isn't. The space now far exceeds demand. They have a fine dining space at bar food prices. Eventually the math catches up.

We had very similar experiences in our visits there. We finally quit going because of the indifference.

Rent was less at new place, that's why they moved across the street
This surprises but doesn’t shock me. Landlords know what happens when a place sits empty for an extended period of time. With two businesses now failing there it’ll be tougher to find the next one. I bet they consider dividing up the space which it already has a natural divide with the street entrance area.

The Ankeny Mullets went into a brand new building...it looks like a first time restaurant went in there. The seating is split up, it has zero atmosphere, zero warmth. Its like it was only there for the rooftop which can only be enjoyed for about 6-7 months a year? Only got beer there so I can't say anything about the food but it was disappointing inside.

I didn't even know Mullets opened an Ankeny location!
