In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

Old Chicago employee here and at the end of the month Old Chicago can be added to the list.

Been an employee there the entire run a little over 19 years.

Emotionally devastated.

Damn, that ames location was one of my first legal drinks.

Not surprising with the merle hay and then ankeny ones closing. I spent a lot of time at the Ankeny one back in the day, before the deals went away and it went downhill.

Sorry to hear that, thought the Ames location might be able to make it after hearing of the Ankeny location closing a while back. I always liked it.

I always thought the Old Chicago lunch buffet was great. Get a salad, then they'd have like 5ish pizzas, maybe some pasta, then you'd get a cookie. Super affordable too. Like under 10 bucks.

That was under previous ownership. We didn't make much money on it.

**** man. Don’t go enough but one of my favorite places to go in Ames. Good beer selection and my some of the best pizza.

Thinking of you buddy!

Yeah heard management there sucked but what we had going for us was our local GM. Like me he had been there the whole time. Tomorrow is his last day as he found another job. Without him our manager roster is pretty slim so knew writing was on the wall. Was hoping to at least make it through the winter.
