Tang throws a temper tantrum twice in a nationally televised game, K-State fans and John Kurtz spread lies that the tantrum was about things being thrown at bench and that ISU fans are racists, they walk back these lies when it's reported by a K-State writer that Tang was accusing TJ of spying and cheating during the game (This is the truth, Tang was accusing him of that), cheating accusation get's picked up by national media, K-State can't show proof, TJ denies the cheating accusations as any coach would when your reputation nationally is on the line, K-State and Tang now have no comment and still no proof of cheating.

Essentially this is the timeline. How can anyone defend Tang or K-State here?

K-State/Kurtz: But but but.... Tang didn't do anything wrong. He never actually said anything publicly! This is all on Otz for making a big deal out of nothing

Literally nobody is except delusional K-State fans. Soft fans, like their soft team.

Seth Davis (who is no ISU cheerleader) even said on the air on CBS that K-State needs to provide evidence or Tang owes TJ and Pollard an apology.

Really wish the broadcast would have showed the exchange. That is, um, not how I recall it happening.
Nope, not even close. Stomping over the coaches box to TJ, and TJ just listens. All after the yelling and finger pointing at the KSU end (where i sit, in the balcony row 6). Big assistant doing a lot of the yelling and pointing, both at the crowd behind the bench, and the 2 college age mop managers.

From another thread...

Based on what the video and still shot show in the links below, I think Tang and company are the ones doing the spying. As my dad would say, "a fox smells its own hole first".
KSU watching Iowa State huddle

My understanding is that they had a guy midcourt observing the Iowa State timeouts all during the game. I was not there to verify this but saw I picture posted.
Same person as in the above video is seen eyeing the ISU huddle and frantically taking notes. He reports directly back to the KSU coaching staff. Coach Dresser in the foreground.
That dude stood at mid-court looking straight into the ISU huddle during timeouts the whole game.

Here he is standing between the cheer squads at mid court. Heavy duty note taking.

Tang is trying to deflect. He know spying well.

This is completely legal. Most staffs just aren’t so obvious about it.

This is incorrect. The guy who claimed to have heard the racial slur was a random fan who attended the game far away from the bench. When confronted by Cyclone Larry he said he "heard" it from others and deleted the tweet.

The On3 guy spread baseless accusations that ISU fans threw things at the KSU bench. He tried to quietly delete the tweet but when confronted by Cyclone Larry he slightly backtracked, claimed he heard things were thrown but Tang confronted TJ over something else. When called out for spreading a false accusation of fans throwing things he refused to retract and claimed "to be clear I'm not saying it didn't happen". It is my belief the rumor of ISU fans throwing things (and then amplified by that ***** Kurtz) was started based of this guy's since deleted tweet.

So if you're keeping score at home:

1) KSU fan spreads false rumor ISU fans directed a racial slur at Tang. Backtracked, tweet deleted.

2) KSU On3 media member spreads false rumor ISU fans threw things at the KSU bench. Quietly deleted tweet, didn't fully retract his lie. I'll give Kurtz some credit, he did basically tweet a retraction on the throwing things issue.

3) KSU coaching staff leaks to multiple KSU media members (Robinett, Kurtz, On3, 247) they believed ISU coaching staff was spying in their huddle. Story goes national and now KSU fans and Kurtz are crying because TJ publicly confronted the allegations.

Basically anyone associated with KSU from coaches to fans to media is a loser.
Maybe the effort here should be to go at On3 & 247, and get the corporate types to rein in their associates covering KSU. They have zero investment in their "reporters" generally, won't take much for them to want to opt-out of anything sticky like this.

Can't do anything about Kurtz, because he just podcasts out of his mom's basement.

Untrustworthy people assume everyone else is untrustworthy.

I had the biggest piece of **** as a roommate once. He owned his own window cleaning business, ended up stiffing a bunch of his workers on promised raises or commissions, and also tried screwing me over before moving out. He was SOOOOO paranoid of people "stealing" from him yet he would rob anyone he knew blind and not think twice if it benefitted himself.

Truer words have never been spoken.

How is this known?
How is it known that KSU staff leaked their allegations of cheating to the KSU media? Well I don't have access to their text messages so I don't have proof but the 247 guys had a post up on their board the day after the game "From a trusted source: Kansas State caught Iowa State filming huddles and texting info to the Iowa State bench."

While I don't consider a message board post reporting it's certainly incendiary language coming from a media type. Either way, that info obviously came from KSU staff. Unless you think the KSU 247 site A: has sources at ISU and B: ISU sources would leak that to KSU 247 guys. Based on the language used I'm pretty confident we can rule out any ISU sources lol.

Later, Kurtz talks about the allegations on Twitter and Robinett runs a story that the KSU staff believes ISU was spying on their huddle (fair and factual reporting btw). Then that gets aggregated by SI, CBS Sports, other small outlets and discussed on podcasts and by Seth Davis on CBS prior to the game. Thus Pollard and TJ addressed it. And here we are.

This is exactly what I thought when this came out. Then I listened to Kurtz on the WVU podcast and he talked about how he had talked to sources close to the KSU program to verify these claims but then later also said something like people have told him (don't remember his exact words) this type of thing goes on and it was their job to spy on other teams. Pretty sure he's not getting that comment from ISU managers.
