Basketball is a different animal than football, but I'd be surprised if Houston doesn't wear down a bit with the grind.
I agree. After watching KU last night though they confirmed my thoughts. They really lack a perimeter go to scorer and shooting. With Houston being really good defensively and tougher in the paint I expect KU to struggle against them. But we will see.

Dickinson will give us hella foul trouble. I imagine Kansas will beat us by double digits. It seems like a bad matchup for us.

Imagining Big Rob, Hason, and TK3 trying to defend him... not good.

The good news is they don't have the shooters to punish a lot of doubling in the paint.

I'm not expecting to beat them in Lawrence, though.

Glanced ahead at FAU and TAMU's schedules...

FAU is all cupcakes until Orlando save one "okay" win against Loyola-Chicago.

TAMU beat Ohio St. in Columbus and just smoked SMU. Only one cupcake (Oral Roberts) left.

Why not...

Virginia Tech beat a likely bad South Carolina team by two on a neutral court. All others are cupcakes.

Boise St. beat a Division II team and UCSF but has to go on the road to Clemson on 11/19.

VCU stepped on a rake against McNeese St. (who might actually be the worst team on their schedule before Orlando). They recovered against Samford and still have Radford and Seattle to go.

Then they take the court against our Cyclones. Iowa State is a 5.6-point favorite on Torvik.

I could imagine something like Houston sweeping KU, but UH losing several games it "shouldn't" and Kansas taking care of business to stay ahead of them. Interesting, though, KU is at UH in final game of season, that could be major.

I actually like the matchup with KU better for us with a big man as their focal point. We’ve got plenty of bodies and KU is most effective when they either have a solid to great inside-out combo threat or just a super talented and athletic wing threat imo.

I thought we only get them once this yr and it is in Ames.

If you shrank DI to the FBS the Big East, MW, A10, Valley and WCC you'd improve the product instantly and make the regular season actually mean something.
Honestly I think that would totally ruin the sport.

Va Tech lost to South Carolina by 2. They’re up single digits on Campbell late in the second half.

And VCU is currently down 9 to Redford just before half.

I’m not sure either of those teams are any good - but TAMU or FAU will be a challenge.

Texas A&M and FAU are the most significant impediments to an undefeated non-con.

TAMU beat Ohio St. a few nights ago and won convincingly.

FAU has only played one game (defeated Loyola-Chicago).

Very little data on them so far (or any team really) but that would be a "proved it" game.
I think we go 12-1 or 13-0 in non-con depending upon championship of tourney. Go 10-8 in league and 22-9 or 23-8 should get you a #4 seed.

VCU stabilized and ended up beating Radford by 23.

VT ended up winning over Campbell by 16.

Neither look particularly scary but at least they'd be somewhat real games.

TAMU and FAU still look to be the main challenge. Go 2-1 in Orlando and 2-0 against DePaul and Iowa... which is still a P6 road game and Iowa is going to play like the game in Ames is their Super Bowl because that's how they do things... and we're sitting rather pretty heading in the Big 12.

Drop more than that and there's some catching up to do.

VCU "up" to 94 in this mornings KenPom. They are 158th in Offense. We should be able to shut that down.

VT moved to 58.. from 57.

I sure hope so and that continues.

If somebody with a money-printing machine is willing to throw something close to seven figures at Tyrese Hunter... and Tamin is at worst just as good as Hunter if not better... then eek.

I'd love nothing more than Tamin to be a Cyclone for life despite those temptations.
His dads a member of the faculty. Tamin won’t be going anywhere
