Maybe Tuesday. There is a lot going on Monday night NBA Finals Game 5 and Tuesday the Trumpeters court appearance.

The news of some Iowa State football players that hardly anyone's heard of getting suspended/removed from a team won't be blip no matter when it breaks.

Many media members have stated they know where things stand and what's going on, they just don't want to be the first to go to print with it so to speak. Pretty easy to read they don't want to be the ones to break the story and lose access in the future.

Which media members?

They are probably more afraid of getting sued.
Exactly. People like to pretend that all rumors and news is the same. The simple fact is that when talking about potential legal issues, nobody is going to risk it. We're all 99% certain because of the sources the info has come from, but even that 1% chance of being wrong on one athlete or implying they did something later not proven in court carries a huge burden/risk/liability.

So if the names are out, why hasn't anyone (not referring to staff) posted them here yet?

For exactly what I posted. Personally, I dropped my liability umbrella policy after I sold CF so am not taking on any unnecessary risk. Until the DCI has communicated the bet amnts and sports to Iowa State Compliance (which they hadn’t as of Friday morning when I last checked), the names are meaningless and subject to change.

As of early last week, DCI interviews were still taking place. ISU could get the details at any time, but nothing will be official until that DCI report.

Thanks Appreciate the info. Why hasn’t the media at least reported that info?

Because until the official DCI report gets sent out, at least to the schools, the names are subject to change. It's an active investigation where I know of at least one interview early last week and several the week before. There's a long thread in the premium section as well about this and even there you're not going to get more than a tacit acknowledgement that the names are correct as of the initial DCI communication. It's very possible that interviews and the deep dive analysis adds or removes names based on what the bets were on.

I totally understand the reluctance of the media, but damn let’s make something concrete and move in so the media can feel safe reporting

What legal issues are we referring to?

Probably don’t want sued for defamation for one. Or cut of from covering Iowa State(their job) for another.

I don’t understand why people don’t want to wait for the facts? You want to hear about a player we might lose and be all but hurt for it then find out they were innocent and you were just a jackass talking down on him for no reason?

No doubt that there is a lot of speculation in this thread, especially with respect to law enforcement.

But I don’t think people understand defamation in the NY Times v. Sullivan context when we’re discussing reporting

This. The coaches know what players are involved, and likely already know the NCAA punishment, and any punishments they'll enforce as well. It's also too late to be going after any portal players to refill an empty scholarship.

I can assure you that they don't yet know. As of Friday AM, the DCI had not finalized it's report to provide to ISU (or at least hadn't provided it to ISU). I know that for a fact. Because it would be ISU that would then provide the details to the NCAA, they couldn't know punishments as of Friday AM.
