Mega Millions - 1 BILLION DOLLARS

Paging @ISUCyclones2015

It wasn't my sister/BIL, and parents don't play. Darn it.

Winning ticket bought in Chicago Suburb of Des Plaines.

Darn, I bought them downtown and I did buy an extra $10 worth because I was walking around Forest Park with a friend and apparently the luckiest store in Illinois is there. The news was doing a story on it.

But that gas station is apparently by the airport employee lots. So hopefully a worker woke up today very lucky

So expect more flight delays as a bunch of airline employees suddenly retire?

Wish they would make it so that if it gets this high they give the winner like 200 million and sprinkle the rest down to folks who got 3 or 4 numbers right and make that payout a lot more.

So I told the lady I wanted 10 Mega Millions tickets yesterday, turns out she gave me 10 Powerball tickets. Didn't realize it until I pulled the ticket out to check the numbers ugh.
I wonder how many others she did this to to give herself better odds of winning. I’d sue her for a billion dollar.:jimlad:

Not only did my tickets win nothing yesterday, but to add insult to injury, for a few hours today Etrade was showing my account up $20mil because they miscalculated a dividend reinvestment (bought at .002 instead of about $400).

Alas, I am no longer a multimillionaire as they just fixed the glitch.

Way to lose twenty million dollars.

So how does it work that two tickets may have the same set of numbers? Is it because two tickets are bought at the exact same instant? Does the computer have a stutter problem so it repeats itself? That was just a quirk of years past and now has been corrected?

Not sure if the computer can randomly kick out the same numbers or not but people can pick the same numbers as someone else.
There are a limited number of combinations of numbers (about 290 million, hence the odds of 1:290 million). If more than 290 million tickets are bought, there are guaranteed to be some repeated numbers. Plus people picking specific combinations like baller said.

On a positive note I can still win Powerball tonight.
Check the time on the ticket, maybe you bought at the same time as the winner, maybe if he/she had used the mega machine……….
