Official SDSU Meltdown Thread

ISU men's BB was the university's flagship program for over 20 years. That tradition has been absolutely gutted and trashed. Hilton Magic is a distant memory. The players exhibit no passion or pride and frankly, GM looks like he is simply going throught the motions. This program has been listless for three years and it is not getting better. Wasn't the addition of Lucca and Eik supposed to help solve the offensive woes of the last two years?

This is reason #8,000,000,0000 why I hate 'diamond in the rough' recruiting. Occasionally you can find one, but you can't base an entire team on them. We simply have too many players on scholarship who were a reach at the Big 12 level.

Cant expect two first years to fix a problem right away.

Mac coached really badly but these guys did not give all their. At point where even Walters is talking about them not playing hard it's bad.

careful Angie, don't be too hard on the players. some think it's all McD's fault. I heard Walters also.

Lucca is horrible he hasn't done anything this year besides one game in which we lost it what a waste of chants he can't pass can't dribble and a terrible defender besides a good shooter what a total waste of chanting (so far)

Absolutely uncalled for...wish there was negative rep:realmad:

Are you seriously that ignorant?

My meltdown rant:

If we finish last in the B12 this year, on top of the 4-12, second-to-last place finish last year, forget McD..........I want Pollard fired.

WM was here for 3 seasons had memorable wins at kanasa and at texas. NIT final 4, and a NCAA Tourney appearance and 1 win in that tourney.

Mac is not sniffing that success now. hind sight is 20/20.

Mac took over a program that was diving into a disaster. He was handed the reigns to a program that was quickly falling apart. He's slowly building the program back up to what it needs to be, to be continually successful instead of having a flashy year every once in a while. If you want Morgan, go watch him installing Satelites. Mac is 20 times a better coach than Morgan.

Next year is his last if they don't perform, but we'd only be shooting ourselves in the foot if we fired him after this year. It would probably take a decade before we'd recover.

And freakin relax, it was an embarrassing loss but the season isn't halfway over yet.

If we aren't markedly improved by the end of next season, GMac will be fired.

But we gotta see next season through.

I think people forget our power team some years back almost lost to Morningside. Was that 2000?

enough with the JP has to go crap...he made one bad mistake we think in hiring GMac, Gmac will be gone soon if things dont change. I'm still in full support of JP though.

I don't think the program was diving into disaster.. thats a pretty strong word. Mcdermott is diving this program into disaster.. Remember Morgan was the last coach in the state of Iowa to win a NCAA tourny game.

Last time I looked we should not lose to SDSU!!!! This is soooo freaking bad. Cyclone fans can express there displeasure of this pathetic loss. Do not expect me to go to any games with GMAC at the helm. This team does the same mistakes every single game and still have not learned anything from one loss to the next. Where the hell are the fundamentals???

There are none. I have really tried to stay in wait and see mode, but my gut so far has not been wrong. I can not shake the idea that his UNI team stumbled down the stretch the season we hired him and closed their home campaign getting blown out by Bradley. Combine that with his recruiting and it simply is not a recipe for success in the Big 12.

How many more seasons do we have to write off due to patience.
Year 1 - new coach, can't expect miracles, cupboard was bare.
Year 2 - give him time he needs to get his own players.
Year 3 - we'll see some progress this year, but it may still be a year or two until the NCAA.

Tim Floyd took over a 14-12 team and won 23 games in Year One. Year two, he lost 95% of his scoring and went on to win 24 games and the final Big 8 Tournament. Year 3, 22 wins and a Sweet Sixteen team. It can be done. You just have to have the right people and philosophy to do it.

First firing related post that true. He isn't getting fired this season; unless we lose the rest of the games this season.

I had to reread this a couple of times as I got lost in the sea of words, but I disagree fully.

Oh yeah, another "running it into the tank" post. WTF ever!! People that post this crap need to come up with a reason why. Morgan won an NCAA tourney game, and got to the final 4 of the NIT.

Quit with the Morgan crap. He's gone--come up with something more in support of Mac instead of bashing Morgan. Hard to do, isn't it?

He's building a program slowly. Really? I don't think Mac will live to be 100, so he'd better start building faster.

Edit: I want to state my support for the players. I feel sorry that they put in this kind of time for these results.

I am growing more and more impatient the more I see us stand around and not move offensively. Something needs to be done very soon, this team has regressed since the beginning of the year. It is going to be a very LONG conference season if we cannot beat an outmanned SDSU team at home.
