The "Another Cyclones First Down!" guy was definitely too loud. That needs to be turned down.....like to zero, or maybe -1. It would be a great stadium experience to never hear that again. Walden days were for celebrating first downs.....that was last millenium.
That’s really a common thing in several football stadiums.

For people talking about sound distribution, there is no way to do that in a stadium. You can only have speakers in one location. If you tried to put speakers in multiple locations you would have phasing issues and it would sound terrible.

install a giant HomePod.

My observations:

1. It was a little loud at times, so much so that there was distortion. It is not a huge amount really but could be dropped down just a little to make it sound a little better. I honestly noticed how loud it was, and and personally I didnt care so much but can remember thinking I bet some really dont like this.

2. I really noticed the "echo effect" from the speakers on the other end vs the end I was in. I have noticed that before but not to the extreme I did last night. I dont know if it was the weather conditions, or because it was louder, or if they changed how the two ends were synced, but there was a definite echo effect from the 2 ends.

3. Some of the music transition are just strange, I have noticed it in multiple games, and actually it might be an actual music file they play that is cut like this, but the way it transitions between 2 or 3 songs on occasion by just a straight cut from one to the next right in the middle of a main chorus line or something is not great.

4. This is the second time this year they played Sweet Caroline at the end of the night to abruptly cut it before the chorus.

5. There almost seemed like a conscious effort to not only make sure there was absolutely no dead air at any time before the game, between plays, during time outs and other times and when the sound system was playing it was going to be loud, to cover up any chant that might get going in the stadium. (The one that has been flooding sporting events around the country and that started last night in Jack Trice after the National Anthem.)

6. Overall it is fine, not a huge deal, just maybe needs a little tweaks to make it sound better. And honestly that was just from my seat, it could be better or worse from other parts of the stadium. I can say it is probably hard to make it sound perfect everywhere in the stadium all at the same time.

The music is outdated, too loud and offensive. Let the band play for chrisssakes and quit trying to fill every second of dead air with some awful trash rock like Nickelback. Our music choices are the absolute worst in college football. Maybe we could update to Jock Jams 1993.

I don't think I heard a single nickleback song. I usually have to ask my 14 year old what the songs are since it's more from his time. Start of the game there is a motley crue and then many times a quick money for nothing hit, but that is generally it.

Wow, I didn't even know this was a thing! And with the 2016 date in the URL, if it's still current, where are they publicizing it?

I would assume so. I've noticed a few other links on ISU's pages have older dates within but still have current information. My guess is that's when they first posted the link. Like with this one, you'll notice they refer to the Mid American Energy Field and that wasn't named/announced until 2018.

I found it looking for fan information to forward to friends.

With all the stadium upgrades, the new performance center, the plaza, etc. it really is a GREAT looking Jack Trice. Kudos to Pollard, and the many, many of us fans for continuing to financially support this program. And the progressive vision of the future. Love being there.

My question is, does anybody know if 'fan comments' are welcomed? And is an email to JP the only route to express those?
So many of those in our section last night, about 20 yd line in upper deck on northwest side, could hardly tolerate the extreme volume of the sound system. Not that any of us could barely converse without yelling, due to the loudness, but several of us did think the volume was louder than even the previous two home games. Yes, it was multiple people discussing this and we've sat that for many years.

And before the bashing begins, yes, we realize everything can't be perfect. Like I said, we love being there. Every venue/business/operation usually welcomes feedback. And we really don't know if it is heard differently in the lower section, let's say on the 50 yd line, or on the south end, etc. No, we are not elderly, nor wear hearing aids. We had friends there for their first game, and they couldn't believe how loud it was. There are such fun things put on the video board, including music, that it seems a shame that the extreme volume often took away from it. Or actually drowned out itself.
Anyone else have the same issue? Is it the same no matter where you sit? Trust me, we like things loud, too. But this seemed overly extreme last night. If it was toned down 'just a tad' , are other parts of the stadium effected?
I would hope that this simple fan question or comment doesn't have to be construed as being negative. Just wondering others' experience. By the way, I commend a few mothers I saw there with headphones on their baby or toddler's ears...smart.
Go Cyclones!

Have sat in west upper deck on the 50 yd for 10+ years, and this game was notably louder. It was really noticeable on the walkout, sounded like the volume was beyond what the speakers could handle and the lyrics of the song were not audible.

We have the same music as most other arenas. The same music was being played in Vegas at the UNLV game. There isn't a lot of current music that I would consider pump up music, and hasn't been for a while. Dua Lipa and BTS are not what get people hyped.

We don't have the same music as other stadiums. Other stadiums let the fans make the noise or feed off the band. We play filler music in literally every dead second of game time and time outs. Seems like we got a deal on whatever AC/DC's newest album was/is and we blast that crap all the time. Other stuff might not be Nickelback - that was a generalization meant to characterize our music as the most gawdawful crap you can put through a speaker - but it might as well be. Some music sometimes = OK. Hardo doucherock all the time = not ok. Spread it out and make it unique. Quit telling me it is first down, we're in the redzone, etc. Just stop trying to do everything all the time.
