As smart as Rodgers is hyped to be, nobody should have to explain to him that the Packers were not trying to bring in a rookie to draft over an MVP.

Rodgers was a headcase with the last coach. Last year he 'was having the most fun of his career' with the new coach. Now we're back to headcase.
There have been millions of marriages over the years that have fallen apart due to failure to communicate because "nobody should have to explain..."

There is rarely a good reason to assume and not actually communicate.

Never mind that Velo got in trouble with Mrs. Velo just this week over poor communication.

Green Bay being willing to move on from Favre when he kept up the "will he or won't he" retirement drama every spring had a lot to do with knowing what they had in Rodgers waiting behind him on the bench.

If they weren't confident in Rodgers back in the day, I don't think they tell Favre to take a hike.

Not sure they're in the same position now with Love.
Definitely not. However if it were 3 years down the road perhaps the situation would be more like the Favre/Rodgers situation. We will probably never know.

Probably all the more important when you're dealing with a drama queen.

Even Love given a few redshirt seasons to develop is no guarantee there.

I can just hammer out a list of the top ten quarterbacks of all-time...

Brady
Manning
Elway
Montana
Favre
Marino
Brees
Rodgers
Unitas
Graham

...and neither of them look out of place. Heck, both obviously deserve it at this point.

Jordan Love is not likely to be one of the 0.1% of the best men to ever play the position.

Oh, good grief. He may not be better than today's Rodgers but who knows what Aaron will be in 3 years. Does it really matter at this point?

You would have thought GB would have grabbed an offensive player with their first round pick. They sure are a hard franchise to like.
Instead they grabbed a guy who they are looking as a replacement to Kevin King, who was a huge liability in last years playoff. I mean, I get the logic behind it. The offense averaged 32 ppg last year. The defense has to be better. Frustrating thing is, it just is never good enough. A cornerback was badly needed for Green Bay.

Packers probably saw this coming. The president, GM, and HC all took separate trips to talk with Rodgers this spring for a reason.
They knew this was coming. Drafting a CB last night sealed his departure.

That is part of the reason that a lot of Cyclone fans are worried about how Lazard comes out of this. He had a great situation at GB. After this, who knows.
Luckily Lazard can leave after his rookie contract runs out.

GB front office really screwed the pooch on this.

What they should have done is Draft a WR in 2020 and THEN a QB this year. Then they didn't tell Aaron that they were drafting Love. Aaron is a total prima donna so that pissed him off. BK should have been more transparent.

Pulling Rodgers off the field in the NFC title game to kick a FG was the final straw. That's on Matt.

Look, Rodgers is a great QB that is a pain in the ass and a cancer to be around. He's great when he's happy.... but when is he ever happy? He has a who's who of ex girlfriends he burned through, a family that won't talk to him, and some ex teammates that don't like him.

GB front office should have known better how to attempt to massage Rodgers ego. Aaron hasn't exactly made the best of this either.

If he does not get traded before the season starts, he will sit out. When the losses start piling up, GB will wake up and trade him and get less in return than they should.

What a mess.

I love Rodgers pettiness. He's been in practice the last year and likely knows how not ready Jordan Love is. So he goes full they'll miss me when I'm gone, leaves town and says "enjoy the new guy."

Rodgers may be traded but it 100% will not happen before June 1st. Packers can’t take $33+ million in dead cap space

Packers front office hasn't screwed anything up. It's a business. Aaron Rodgers understands that. They drafted a QB last year to develope and use if needed. Packers have been pretty good since 1992. Obviously with a couple down season in-between. But winning organizations don't just wait for their qb to retire, have a really terrible season & hope to get a good draft pick and get a new QB. Plus with injures you never know.

Rodgers wants a contract extension. Packers can cut/trade him after next season with little cap hit. His cap number is alittle over 40 million next season. They will have to extend/trade/cut him after next season.

I don't get the outcry saying the packers organization screwed this up. They've been in 2 straight NFC title games. Gutenkunst has proven he knows what he's doing.

Rodgers is under contract for 3 years. He's not going anywhere this season. Just a ploy by his agent to leak info to put pressure on the front office. They've been in talks for weeks, conicidence that this info got leaked on the 1st day of the NFL draft? Think about it.

I'm glad Rodgers is the Packers qb. I'll be excited to watch him again this season in a Packers uniform.

There's a chance that they could designate him as a post June cut this year, if they are convinced that he won't play. That would allow them to spread out the dead money over two seasons instead of one. They wouldn't get anything in return though.
