Of course I'd like the Cyclones to be the top 15, who wouldn't? Do I think well timed Ts are a smart part of the game, yes.
But referencing MadFran as some type of example of good coaching makes no sense. And your 'church' narrative is pathetic (CMC says hi.)

Think you are missing the point. It doesnt matter where you spend your Sundays. However, when hiring someone like a D1 Power 5 head coach, there are other things that are much more important to consider. Like, say, ability to relate to players, develop talent, in game adjustments, you know, basketball stuff.

Oh, I got your point about claiming JP hires coaches because they go to his church. That's just laughable.

It doesnt, but one of the MAIN reasons Pollard hired Prohm was because he was a Christian and they go to the same Church. How/Where/Who should not matter when hiring. Especially at a Public institution making millions a year.

He may go to the same church, but he certainly didn't when he hired him.

Yes, the records are close, but Prohm took over a top 10 team and turned it into the worst team in the HISTORY of the school.

Look, i hate Iowa and Fran, but using him as the "but look, he is worse!" Comparison as he is about to be a 3 seed and we cant run a functional offense is insane.

I wouldn't want a coach like Fran at all. But the fact is he took over an absolutely garbage team and built the program into at least being competitive and solid. Prohm did the opposite. I know who I'd rather have right now.

Unless you were part of the hiring process and an advisor to JP, you should stop asserting things like this. Did JP care that he was hiring an ethical coach? I'm sure he did. Requiring high moral character and requiring a coach to be Christian are not the same thing, even if there's overlap in the Venn diagram. You should really stop with this nonsense.

I dont want a rage monster for a coach, but being able to get a technical and work the refs is an important part of this level of coaching. One that neither prohm nor hoiberg are(were?) great at. A timely technical, or getting on the refs can completely change the way the game gets called. I dont like it, but it is what it is.

No.

Yeah, you can't ask someone about their religion in the hiring process

Sigh.... What world do you live in? When you are hiring someone for a multiple million dollar job you vet everything about them.

Yes it is illegal to ask age, religion etc etc when hiring for your new Accounting opening, but this is not what is being discussed here.

It’s getting cavey in here. Let’s move away from it please.

fran is going to struggle next year after he loses arguably the best player to put on a Hawkeye uniform among a few other seniors that are formidable.
