PFF and similar outlets watch every game, but in gaining so much breadth, they lose a lot of depth. They'll count their "big time throws" and other subjective non-adjusted stats, but forgo applying the context of the game. Even the best stats can miss context.
I think most of us have a better idea of how Brock is doing than PFF does. I watch every play of every ISU game, most of them 3-4 times--it's a problem. Brock hasn't noticeably improved on-field so far this year, but he hasn't magically become worse. He's in a different situation. Many on the board have made good points. I expect him to keep getting better as the year goes on.
I did and do think that the NFL hype was getting a out of hand. When's the last time he connected on a fly route or deep corner? He's always been limited, but he's still same awesome Brock. And I love his mature attitude this year; he looks so comfortable as a leader.

Brock is something like 14-5 or maybe it is 13-5 in Big 12 league play. That's a pretty important stat to me. I dare anyone to find an isu qb with a league record that is anywhere close to that since Seneca. Also owns all the school qb records (virtually all of them).
We need Hutchinson to continue to stay hot, Milton to get rolling and healthy, and this pass offense will start to gel. This saturday presents a pretty nice opp for Brock and pass O versus a very weak pass D!

Seneca was 8-8 in conference games and threw more career interceptions than TD. I’m confident no other QB besides Purdy has had anywhere close to his record in conference.
The schools we've played. No pasty to pad his stats. Of course his rating will be down with the schedule. Throw in covid problems and I'm not concerned about rating comparisons
Even removing one of the dumbest plays I've ever seen on a football field, Purdy has been flirting with disaster a lot this year. He has had a ton of dropped interceptions. Those mistakes are going to catch up to him if he doesn't start making better decisions. I feel like he will pretty easily go down as the best QB in ISU history, but unless he starts to show better decision making he will never make it at the next level. DBs don't drop those balls in the NFL.
I completely agree that regression is a dangerous word here.

Purdy is untouchable on this site, so I’ll just say ...... thank god for Breece Hall thus far. Without him we’re 0-3 right now.
This. Because it’s subjective it’s not concrete. Brock has made some poor decisions. But my god people, it’s like you’ve forgot about the last two years. Then factor in new receivers, an o line that can be complete trash at times and all the covid stuff and there’s gonna be reasonable explainations for some of it. However, Brock is Brock and he’s given us more than enough sample size and to think he won’t get a few things out and eventually start taking over games is really pretty damn stupid.I completely agree that regression is a dangerous word here.

It’s almost as if the performance of Breece has allowed Brock to not have To break school records just to win games.
Bothersome that our receivers can not get open. Our guys are covered like a blanket. Completions to Kolar are often in VERY tight windows. The long TD pass against OU was thrown in a very tight window. Routes, play calling? It is not like we are only throwing to one guy. The one time our guy was open in the early play against OU, he slipped and fell. Our guys are most often when Brock has to scramble and throws late.
When I watch other teams, a 3rd down and 3-4 is automatic wide open dump in the flat not a contested to yd pass to the middle of the field.
Not much was discussed here that was mentioned in article, and that is Brock's sometimes casual one hand ball handling. Definitely something opposing coaches are going to watch for. Coaches will expose Rattler on his ball handling during scampers.
