Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

LSU expects a $25 to $35 million deficit. They also paid out $100 million in coaching buyouts over the last 10 years. They also have a $90 million contract for Kiffin and a $30 million contract for their basketball coach. This is on top of $20 million rev share.
Fun times on the bayou.

Washington made a huge miscalculation by taking a reduced share, a lot of the $15 to $25 million deficit came from soaring transportation costs. Billionaires are the least of his problems right now.

There reduced share is still way more then what they would’ve had in the PAC

If they didn’t take the reduced share they would be making less in the PAC or would have had to go to the ACC

But as I said they made a big miscalculation, especially on the expense side.that miscalculation drove their deficit up $15 to 25 million according to the Seattle Times they miscalculated on travel and salaries

I seriously question public media's reporting these days. Miscalculation on 'travel'? I find that hard to believe. Those expenses were closely tracked by the P12 office when they were part of that, but were reported by the school. Those things aren't runaway type expenses. They knew exactly what they needed to spend for that stuff all along. It's more likely, they didn't understand their revenue 'stream' necessary to offset that. Or, they're covering for something else. The excuse/explanation falls elsewhere.

A lot the Times info came from the university.

Idiots in charge of Big 10 schools. What does he think would happen?

Newsflash for Pat Chun...college sports has been a donor playground for a long time...it's just ramped up a notch or two because NIL now gives the donors the ability to essentially directly buy players for their team, as opposed to funding the bagmen for a few good players.

Donors have been dumping money into UT, aTm, tOSU, Michigan, Tennessee, etc. for years, which enables these big-money schools to pay the monster coaching salaries, pay ridiculous coaching salary buyouts, and overbuild facilities that rival the professional ranks. Donors have been funding the college sports arms race for nearly 30 years now.

Chun was Wazzu's AD when they got kneecapped by Fox/B10.

His "billionaire playground" comments and his conference's opposition to PCSA passage are stunningly out of touch and total BS given that PCSA passage will reduce billionaire pay for play spending and help prevent additional competitive/financial relegation that destroyed Wazzu and Oregon St.
