Watched Dekker in warm ups. Feeling good about 2022 forward. Kid is a stud.

Sure you don’t want to blame her parents?Yeah, my girlfriend is a model, but not a Victoria’s Secret super model. Probably going to dump her.
Seneca was 8-8 in conference games and threw more career interceptions than TD. I’m confident no other QB besides Purdy has had anywhere close to his record in conference.Brock is something like 14-5 or maybe it is 13-5 in Big 12 league play. That's a pretty important stat to me. I dare anyone to find an isu qb with a league record that is anywhere close to that since Seneca. Also owns all the school qb records (virtually all of them).
We need Hutchinson to continue to stay hot, Milton to get rolling and healthy, and this pass offense will start to gel. This saturday presents a pretty nice opp for Brock and pass O versus a very weak pass D!
The schools we've played. No pasty to pad his stats. Of course his rating will be down with the schedule. Throw in covid problems and I'm not concerned about rating comparisons
A couple things to note: QB stats and rating aren't impacted by passer interference or holding calls and Brock's decision making led to 6-7 of those against OU. Also the rating formula is heavily influenced by TD passes. Brock has two, largely because Hall has been so effective inside the 10.
Also, Iowa State is making a conscious effort to not have Brock free-wheel as much outside of the pocket as he did as a Freshman because the back-up situation is so unknown.

Good points above Blum. I think the injuries Brock played with last year has the coaches trying to keep him healthy as a drop back passer. He is creative on the run, but that probably scares them a bit with injuries.
No one is perfect. Everyone on the team gets coached, so don't know why we can't have a strengths weaknesses discussion about any player, even won we all love having as our QB. A few points my Saturday afternoon quarterbacking sees:
At work I hate when we label someone good or bad, because then they either can't be coached or we shouldn't waste the time. Even stars need coaching, and some times a poor performer may be the exemplar on the team in a particular performance. It's a message board, this is what we do. I love Brock as our QB and look forward to Saturday.
- Brock has always thrown some down field "jump balls" as we have typically had larger receivers that could go up and win it. If you don't have the same experience/talent, those look really dangerous. On the other hand, Brock took great advantage of the smaller OU d-backs causing the penalties that helped move the ball.
- I always thought one of Brock's strengths was his accuracy on the crossing patterns. He has looked better with Kolar back, as he gets more separation than Allen seemed to get in the first game. However, he has seemed to be less accurate at times on those crossing throws.
- Love Brock throwing on the run as his pump fake is a killer. He seems to be able to keep his eyes downfield buying time for a receiver to get open.
- As a pocket passer under pressure, he seems to mechanically have a tendency to throw off his back foot at times which often scares me with the ball he throws then.
- Blum's point above that the emergence of a reliable running game has an impact on passing stats. I am excited to see Breece get more involved (5 catches in 3 games) in the passing game as any way to get him the ball makes him a weapon. However it is fun to watch him pick up blitzers and the TE have become more of the safety valve.
- I think we see less WR open downfield partially because we are playing less of them at a time. Numerous times we have had two TEs, and even at times 3, on the field at once. And we have been spoiled with the WR play the last few years.
Even removing one of the dumbest plays I've ever seen on a football field, Purdy has been flirting with disaster a lot this year. He has had a ton of dropped interceptions. Those mistakes are going to catch up to him if he doesn't start making better decisions. I feel like he will pretty easily go down as the best QB in ISU history, but unless he starts to show better decision making he will never make it at the next level. DBs don't drop those balls in the NFL.Dropped passes statistically can go both ways. 5 interceptions were dropped by Oklahoma. Purdy is pushing his luck. There are open outlet receivers but he seems to lock onto his primary receiver whether they are open or not. Some blame could go to OL for making him rush throws, and WR for route/speed issues. If we have 3 TE, why can’t we use them for bubble screens? Seems like that play would be unstoppable . Still haven’t seen a jet sweep called either or a wildcat. At least we have figured out a short yardage formation this year.
I completely agree that regression is a dangerous word here. You have to be careful using the 'regression' word on this board in any sentence involving Brock. Many dumb ratings will follow from cardinal colored glass folk. PFF dares to use stats.
Regardless, if/when Brock steps it up a notch big wins will follow down the stretch.
This. Because it’s subjective it’s not concrete. Brock has made some poor decisions. But my god people, it’s like you’ve forgot about the last two years. Then factor in new receivers, an o line that can be complete trash at times and all the covid stuff and there’s gonna be reasonable explainations for some of it. However, Brock is Brock and he’s given us more than enough sample size and to think he won’t get a few things out and eventually start taking over games is really pretty damn stupid.I completely agree that regression is a dangerous word here.
Regarding PFF, they watch the film and grade every player on every play with subjective points applied to each player.

While their grading is useful, it's difficult to call it stats.
It’s almost as if the performance of Breece has allowed Brock to not have To break school records just to win games.Purdy is untouchable on this site, so I’ll just say ...... thank god for Breece Hall thus far. Without him we’re 0-3 right now.

Lol what?Dropped passes statistically can go both ways. 5 interceptions were dropped by Oklahoma.
