@mzintz Have learned that Ole Miss basketball guard Blake Hinson has entered the transfer portal.

Starter each of the last two years. Averaged 10.1 points per game last season.

@Sam_Vecenie I like Blake Hinson quite a bit. Definitely a high-major kid. Consistent jumper away from being a fringy NBA prospect, IMO. Great frame.

So we will see if we're done for the summer. Our advantage might be some of the other majors have filled their quota with players we missed (or didn't go after). Time will tell.

I don’t think we are “done”. I think Prohm has shown he’s not reaching, but I do believe if good transfers become available he will reach out. I think a lot of schools settle for less early as we have done in the past... hope it works out in our favor. Worst case we know we have two extra open slots for freshman next year which we are after some good ones. Maybe a mid year guy pops up which isn’t a guarantee but still a possibility.

Gotta wonder if Prohm will survive after next season with another losing record. Can he afford to bank 2 schollies?

I honestly don't think we will have a losing record, and I honestly don't think we will have 2 open going into the season.

I really don’t think we have a losing record. Our offense was fine, we have some pieces to help the defense a lot. We really lacked the size/athleticism to defend the 3/4 and Jacobson at the 4 hindered the defense even more.

Filling the last two spots with players that won’t make the rotation would be worse than leaving them open with the option to add late if a quality player becomes available. Being selective is the right move.

And the fact that the whole process got moved back a month and a half due to COVID. Could be some late transfers depending on how the NBA pre-draft process goes.

Regardless Prohm isn’t going anywhere. ,.. financial hit from 1/2 empty stands from COVID and 4 years left after this on his contract. JP has shown he will pull the trigger but it will take him seeing floor fall out in recruiting. By all accounts this years incoming freshman class is expected to be solid so I just don’t see JP making a move this soon it just isn’t how he does things. Combine that with the financial fallout and you best hope Prohm gets the guys he needs to succeed

It's always the right move.

I agree that there was little value in adding low major transfers to ISU and as the tweet below illustrates, there are quality players still coming on the market, but ISU needs to land one. Having 2 spots this late can be an advantage but doesnt mean anything if you dont close the deal. Steve wont get extra credit for only having 11 scholarship players this season.

If football is played, he won't survive if he has a losing record. JP can't afford to keep him if that happens. The current perception of the program by recruits is not good. The 2019 HS recruiting class was a disaster. Foster may be the only 2020 HS recruit who will be in next season's primary rotation. Transfer recruiting this season has not been good at all and hasn't adequately addressed the roster gap at PG. There are no committed 2021 recruits at this point and no one of note appears to be close to committing. And the two open schollies should only be used for top shelf prospects, preferably a PG who is immediately eligible.

Id be shocked if Foster is the only freshman who plays.
