Official ISU-Nebraska Post Game Thread

The players keeping to together are Mac players, but there is suppose to be more talent coming. Scales was a get when he commited to ISU. He was one of the best HS RBs ever in Iowa. Sure things havnt panned out for him but every team has those misses and freak deals. Atleast he still works hard, has kept with it and is a leader.

Actually, I'm embarrassed for the players, the coaches and the institution. It sounds like these guys would get blown out by a litter of new-born kittens, with the "Play of the game" being an opposing player being held to "only" a 90 yard gain on a full-back plunge, because he slipped in a pool of ISU defensive players' tears and urine, which said player left on the field when he was curled up in a fetal ball, crying, peeing himself and sucking his thumb in fear of "those nasty Nebraska/Baylor/School for crippled, blind 8 year old girls".

I know it's not really that bad. But this team has lost it's way, and frankly, they as a team lack courage and gumption. But all is not lost. Lots of organizations come back from dark days like these.

Give GC a chance. If he can't do it in the fullness of time, we'll keep hiring coaches until we find someone who will. But they've gotta have more than a season and a half to build a football team.

Saw another f-ing stupid gd Hawk fan dressed out in his black & gold in the stadium palling around with Nebraska fans. Must not be able to afford tickets to Kinnick.

Ummmm you do realize that ISU tickets cost more than Iowa tickets, right? Not that I'm defending the guy, he probably looked like the rube who got on tv at UNLV (or maybe he is the same rube), but the fact is that Pollard has made ISU football the highest priced sporting event in the state. Hard to believe when you think about it.

I didnt see anything today that we haven't seen all year or last year.

Here's hoping that help is on the way.

Winners don't give up. They don't kick when they need a TD to win. They expect to win. Chizik doesn't expect to win. There is no fire. No taking chances. He needs to take a page from Stoops' book. At ISU next season may not be better. We have the potential this year. 5 wins and we go to a bowl. Chizik needs to get off his buttocks and take some chances.... Time to be a motivator. Not wait for another year to collect another paycheck.

OH please. Any fan base or University who put up with Macs crappy coaching for 12 years can at least show some patience for Chizik - at least give the man four years befor you start with your crap. :dull:

Remember when kNu beat us 70-14 or what ever it was? They were in the top 10. Now we've got 4 top 10 teams in our conference and 2 more in the top 15. We're in over our heads right now and we might be that way for a very long time. We are not demanding huge improvement in our team, just a glimmer of success. No one can be happy with a team that is very bad and showing absolutley no improvement. We are just as bad right now as we were last year. I guess waiting til next year is our only option right now. If we go 2-10 and still manage to land a decent recruiting class, I'd still have some hope for next year, but that's a big if.

Here's an idea: what if it isn't necessarily all in our coaches lap? What about the players? But my key point, what about our AD?
I'm just as disappointed with the losses this season as anyone else, we aren't that far away from being 4-3 rather than 2-5. That goes to the coaching and the players. But as far as the development of this program into something more than what it is goes on Pollard. I'm sorry, the man is an idiot. Earlier he stated that we're "right where we want to be" as far as developing this program. Couldn't be farther from the truth. But what gets me is how he is turning ISU into a place more about the $$$ and the donors rather than the fans and actually enjoying a game, even if we lose. The new skyboxes are a great addition, but the overall experience at the games have changed and I don't believe it's for the better. Under Pre-Pollard DMac, I enjoyed the games (even if he wasn't/was the greatest coach we've had). So far with under Pollard/Chizik it's just been awkward, all this hype for nothing to hype up. Anyhow.....discuss......

I enjoyed the program pre-Pollard as well...2000-2005 were pretty successfull compared to what we have now. We beat Iowa 5 years in a row, beat Nebraska twice, went to 5 bowl games, nearly upset Florida State in the Eddie Robinson Classsic and played the last game of the year for 2 Big North titles.

all in a crappy big 12 north, i think this team could compete and do just as well as those 2004-2005 teams if they were placed in the same situation. we'd probably win with mahoney as kicker.

Two years is way too early for another change.

However, if we don't make a bowl game next year I will be extremely disappointed. 3-1 and 3-5 (6-6) should not be this difficult.

Looks like 4 wins next year. Then the Super Okie and Great Texas comes back on our schedules, so I predict 3-4 wins in the following two years. Then in 2012 we will win 6 and go to Shreveport if they will have us. Seriously, Dan could match this effort. He was mainly enthusiastic. I do not see the staff able to fire things up enough while playing a static defensive scheme for our people and a weird playcalling/scheme approach of 4 yard passes that get us nothing but grief bevause we have to complete three to get a first down.

I'm really glad to know that you're not the one coaching the team.

This is just sheer stupidity. Why don't you stop?

Or, don't you understand that you can't base the next two years off a mere two games in the middle of a season?

If you are so smart with understanding football... where were you after the first two games this year? I NEVER heard any of you pointing this out then.

When you only get 200 yourself and 70 of those on one play, 500 yards given up by the defense will usually more than enough to swamp the boat again.

I think everyone undestands how and why we are losing. What is shocking is that people somehow expect Coach Chizik to turn this thing around during the middle of the season. Pretty hard to do unless they added some sort of midseason signing day.

Unless the offensive schemes change to be more aggressive or the defensive stand around zones during the Big 12 conference change, I do not expect too many wins and too much recruiting. This is mopre than being young and a lack of talent. We need to adjust to Big 12 football. I base my expectations on playing in the Big 12 and what I see the other teams are doing. Iowa will continue to be one of our easier games to play against with our schemes.
