I was hoping for improvement after lsoing to Iowa 17-5. I gave them the benifit of doubt since with improved last year with bret Meyer. I do not think it is the players at this point. I believe the coaching staff needs to make changes to what they are trying to do. Watch the 105 plays against Nebraska last year and the 60 plays this year and you will see they have us figured out. We are way too predictable. We fail to take what they are willing to give us.

I guess it's too much to expect the offensive line to improve or your young skill players to know the offense well before you get "more aggressive". That's putting the cart before the horse.
Fortunately for your "not too much recruiting", recruits seem quite interested in playing here. For some strange reason, they see playing time available, and a good coaching staff.
So what exactly kind of offense can we run that allows us to keep 8 guys in to block because that is the only way Arnaud can get a 5 step drop (even 3 in some cases) right now...
I just think its unfair to blame our being terrible on one reason. Its a lot of things.
Im sure there are a lot of schemes our coaches would love to run, but just do not feel like they have the players to do so. I just think its unfair to blame losses on coaching, unless you know the players are executing to their best.

Exactly... our offense usually has 3 playmakers in at a time.
Two receivers and a RB.
Tight ends and full backs are being used to block.
Defenses will just drape safeties over your deep routes. No wonder is it so hard to throw the ball down field.
I watch the games as the plays are sent in from the sideline. It looks like our hand signals allow a playbook of twenty plays. Could our desire to send in a play after everyone is lined up limits our choices of plays. I continue to see our receivers run simple patterns that are covered. I did see AA not look on like radar yesterday which is a plus. Yet he has a slow release for the short passing game which allows the defenders to catch up. I think AA would be a better passer if he threw deeper more. That might get the 8 players off the line a little bit. If we do not want to take the chances to stretch the field, do not expect much against A&M next week. We look like we play like the KC Chiefs - never take chances until the game is over. Leonard Johnson, McDowell, Catlep, Jesse Smith, James Smith and others played well. But we are the same old, same old offensive set of plays. Let's face it, our line is not going to blow anyone off the line, so we have to throw first over them and then run to mix it up. Really not wanting to mention Dan but I feel I need to, but his playcalls from Barney et al were somewhat similrarly deficient. The people in the top of the stands knew what plays are coming. That is not good. At the same time, did you know what nebraska might be doing?

I want to go on the record ....I feel sorry for poor old Wesley who has to live in Omaha NE after a big-lopsided loss to the big red!!
Truer words were never written. It will be bad over here. We made the Big Red season. After their previous three losses, they were on oxygen. We just gave them hope. We never really threatened them on their road game. It is a bad weekend over here.

Coaches trying to build a team say "look how many Frosh and Sophs we played last year. Come to ISU and you will have the chance to play immediately." I hope it works for GC. In the meantime we take our lumps. Another part of recruiting is "big crowds". We have to keep showing up and doing our part.

They fumbled as they wee making extra effort. That is acceptable. Right now this team needs to have extra effort.
Good sage words. Since Missouri appears too good, we have to beat A&M. Yet they will be desparate also. Next week our offense needs 350-400 yards offense instead of 225-250 yards. Without turnovers and ounting this season could be worse than last year. Our signature win so far this year is Kent State or South Dakota State? Both of those teams are having bad years also.

By playing a less than stellar first half put us in the position of having to make a big play. By not getting closer than the 18 yard line both players were trying extra hard as the game was winding down. The game was lost before then. thse were the first two turnovers for nebraska in four games. They were very happy.
We have six receivers and yet we do not have a real go to. This year having a Milan Moses type might have helped.
We just cant seem to get a solid game from all the players. We do NOT have the players to win when we make mistakes. The two fumbles were critical to losing momentum. We dont get that much either and when something like that happens we dont bounce back well. We also had a questionable
Sorry, hit the wrong button i guess. We also had a questionable clipping or block in the back call when the guy was falling down and barely touched the defender. We just dont seem to bounce back from those things, YET. Mac never did this. Can GC? I can only hope so. 30 years and counting, not changing, not looking for another place to support. Someday I hope to move back closer and be able to watch live. This TV stuff is for the birds.
