Making grilled cheese with Velveeta and dipping in ketchup brings me back to my childhood. I don't especially like ketchup or Velveeta, really, but that takes me back.

Yeah, I can't eat Velveeta anymore knowing what's in it. But as a kid in a lower income household it was a staple. I have very fond memories of my dad and I watching football on Sundays and splitting a huge plate of nachos made with melted Velveeta and rotel.

I hated to read in the last grilled cheese thread that adults were still using Velveeta and Kraft Singles. Fine for kids, but time to start using real cheese.

The best samich I ever invented during my days in Ames was a grilled peanut butter and cheese. After coming home from the Cave Inn one night, I was trying to decide if I wanted peanut butter on toast or grilled cheese. I compromised.

And before you get all righteous, how many of you have eaten peanut butter and cheese crackers? Almost the same thing...

Some people put ranch on all food. I once was a waiter and saw a woman dump a ton of it into fettuccine Alfredo pasta.

Interesting. My wife is partial to peanut butter sandwiches with her mac and cheese. So likely similar in flavors.

Has anyone else tried a grilled peanut butter sandwich or a grilled PBJ? Just make a regular sandwich, butter it and grill it up. It's really warm and gooey. Just make sure to get the PB and J toward the middle of the bread so it doesn't come out the sides.

I tried a cheeseburger with peanut butter on it. That'll probably be the last time I try it.

Yeah, they're awesome. But I like to use crunchy peanut butter. Otherwise the texture doesn't work for me.

Those are called people who can't enjoy good food.

If you have to douse something with sauce, it isn't good food.

We were grilling with some neighbors at one point and had some really good New York strips. Neighbor excused himself to go grab A-1 before he sat down and doused his steak in it. We now stick to brats and burgers with them instead of good steaks.

Sure thing. I'll eat brie on some crackers or goat cheese on a pizza. But I always have Kraft singles in the fridge.

I like steak but I'll still eat a hot dog ;)

My mom used to make grilled cheese and grilled peanut butter at the same meal so we could have our choice.

Becki, neighborhood cookout elitist.

I just make grilled cheeses with different cheese or different seasoning between the cheeses. A little Italian seasoning between layers of cheese give it a great flavor.

How about Jelly-
I know it sounds weird, but Jelly clearly goes well with toast.
And Cheese and wine/grapes pair well.....

Sweet/Salty

Try it.
I don't dip mine, but I have spread grape jelly on them since I was a kid. It's ******* delicious but I can't convince hardly anyone else to try it that way.
