The measuring stick is now set. We are at probably the lowest point in ISU history. Even lower than under Jackson, but thats only because he is no longer year. We were doomed to go lower. The new staff is breaking these guys down to make them better, so this year had to happen. Also the reason for the defections. Wrestlers have to buy in to reach their maximum potential. The true measure of growth begins next year, but it will be baby steps. Unlike Iowa with Zalesky, it took us longer to realize it was not going to get better under Jackson. I'm as guilty as anyone.

On the other hand I was all over it early. We will get better starting next year but anytime you want to see what mountain we need to climb, pull out the results of this match and remember that Iowa isn't elite...and started 1 senior, 1 junior and the rest freshmen and sophs.

We have the right guy running this program.

Embarrassing meet. KD tried to temp expectations before the meet by suggesting the real measure of success will be the fight and challenge put up in each match. I'm sure KD may not sleep for a week.

More stalling calls then offensive shots - This is Jackson era stuff.I don't see Simmons making the mat next year - SinGin and St John are not D1 wwrestlers - Marcus is not a HWT - just lazy 197 - The rest of team must of been looking for a moreal vicotry - lose but dont get pinned. --- Very Frustrating for final at home perfromance

Curious to the tone at Sukup center social following the meet.

Well I'm back on board - bought season tix after 4 year hiatus - but no one knows for sure if Dresser is the right guy. All we can do is hope that he is...

Well you do realize this is still the first year under the new coaches right? Or did you think that things were going to change the minute they got here?

I was unable to watch the meet, guess I'm going to consider myself lucky. However, your post is over the top. We won 7 duals this year compared to 0 last year. We should have a few make Nationals compared to 1 last year. We had Seniors giving up last year. This year we are learning with Frosh. Yes, the road ahead is long, but we have made measurable improvement in only 1 year.

You do know that Sinjin walked on in Dec to keep us from having to forfeit the weight. No need to criticize the kid on a message board for stepping up and going out on the mat against whoever it might be.
I also don’t think there is any need to call Marcus a lazy 197lber. Much more success this year at heavy. Stoll is a beast .

Dresser knew what he was up against today. There has been progress , as I have said before old habits are hard to break , a lot of those showed up today. Next year will be better and the one after that better yet.

I agree "Tornado"....NO body and I mean NOBODY knows if Kevin Dresser is the right guy for ISU Wrestling right now...and anybody that sez that he is with conviction is just whistling past the graveyard so to speak....

I was in Hilton the last time ISU beat the CHOKE Eyes and it seems like forever.....good luck to our wrestlers because they have a real mountain to climb............

Point of order: 1 dual win and 3 qualifiers. But your point stands.

Not sure what some were expecting to happen today. This team is incredibly young and lacking talent. It will get better. Next year with Gomez and likely Coleman and Carr in lineup... plus an actual D1 wrestler at 125... that’s already a good start in the right direction.

Can someone explain the issue at 197?[/QUOTE

Iowa weighed in a wrestler at 197 , not their starter, when Colbray took the mat instead of wrestling him they forfeited. We sent out a freshman inexperienced walk on to wrestle an extremely talented Spencer Lee.

Ok side note, why was the Iowa dual so late this year and not in December? Very strange for Iowa to be the last dual before Big XII conference tournament.

Behind you
Degen fought and showed well.
Regarding today, brands is a chicken s*** and forfeited the weight so isu fans couldn’t have a chance to enjoy an actual win on the mat.

Wilcke didn't make the trip due to flu, Holloway weighed in but was injured. Dresser should focus on why his favored guys at 133 and 141 were so completely outworked instead of whining about Brands' lineup decisions.

Also a pretty crass move to denigrate his own guy at 125 who has probably worked his ass off in the room as someone they found at a 7-11.

Do you think sinjin is unaware that he isn’t a scholarship athlete? Or that he had 0% chance at winning today?
