*** Official Kansas Vs IOWA STATE Gameday Thread ***

Our offense looks a lot like Virginia's when Babb runs the point. Dribble for 20 seconds before calling for a high ball screen. Defender goes under the screen because Babb is not a threat to shoot from 3. Rescreen. Babb finds Wigginton or Jackson for a contested jumper. Yuck.

I'm all for having Wigginton initiate the offense, run a weave, flex, anything to get our guys moving away from the ball. When Babb runs the offense, we tend to stand and watch.

When we win this year or next, it's going to be from pushing the tempo and playing a relatively chaotic style. We're just terrible when someone gets us into a halfcourt game.

Devonte Graham reminds me of Justin Timberlake.....also affectionately known by his Tweet-followers as "The Man of the Woods". Keeping it real.

That requires stops.

I honestly have got so used to winning with up-tempo that I don't know how you win in a grind it out game. I suspect it starts with not giving up 4 alley-oops from the same exact play.

We came out of the gates passing really well and moving the ball. That didn't happen in the second half.

Give KU credit for that. They took things away without exposing other things, and exploited their end of the mismatch on the other end.

Part of stopping some of those things is early recognition. Part is communication (Crean pointed that out) and part is simply learning how to position yourself better and have better awareness. All of that can be taught.

I'd take that all day with Babb as a threat if ISU had 2 losses right now.

So you follow Justin Timberlake on Twitter?

That was really boring.
What is not boring is mocking the Man of the Woods! I think he had a bunch of tweets about how important it was to vote. It's kind of funny when he wears a bow tie and tries to croon. He's almost like Frank Sinatra.....if Frank Sinatra was privileged Disney child star. Good marketing strategy. Branding fatigue.

Not a bad effort. Losing only by six with Wigginton and DJ shooting poorly and two guys playing injured indicates some grit.

Give credit to KU. We are best running and they didn’t let us. You could blame our defense for that, but WVU and OU also shot well. In the halfcourt we struggled to utilize our advantages (Young and Lard), which is largely due to a lack of passing and movement. It doesn’t matter who’s at pg, we don’t move. That’s on Prohm.

It felt like KU scored 40 points on backdoor cutter passes/lobs alone. It was the same play 20 times, yet it ended in an easy shot almost every time.

Nick had a great game coming back. Much more than I expected out of him, and much more explosive. Do need to vary up that stand around for half the shot clock offense though. Motion kills us, and I’d like to see us do that to others.
Agree. NWB was very good.

It’s been the case all year, no matter who at pg, that we are much better if we can run. I know we don’t have the four shooters on the floor at a time, or point-forward mismatch, but we’re not good enough in the half court because we don’t pass and we don’t move. We have two forwards that will necessitate doubles if we utilize them.

Again, not a bad effort, but not good enough to overcome poor shooting and a solid team in KU.

Another game of one guard playing very well and not enough scoring from others.

That was the easiest thing in the world to see too. I told my wife at halftime that Cam and Solomon look a little beat up and tired, so watch the backdoor passes and high lows.
We got eaten alive by that. They kept drawing Cam and Solomon out to 15 feet. Steve is the coach but damn dude tell Cam to not leave the arc under the rim. He wasn’t even in foul trouble so he could contest.
Azubuike and Lightfoot weren’t going to shoot 20 footers.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but it sounds very possible that Soloman might have to shut things down this year and for sure he'll have to have surgery at some point.

Got to give this team credit for hanging in there through all of the ups and downs.

Did they say that on the radio or something?
Hope not, he’s played well lately and I’ve been impressed with his jumper.
