When's the last time we had a real 3 out there, not just another 6'4ish shooting guard?
BDJ was probably the last real starter we had that played a true 3, but he was inconsistent. Lewis might get there in a year or two, but Shayok should provide a dimension we haven't had in a while.

Hogue, Ejim, Georges is more of a 3 than a 4.

I love Jackson's ability to put up 25 on any given night, but replacing him with a versatile, 23-year-old, 6'6" wing with 3 years of experience in one of the best programs in the country is exciting. We're going to be very athletic next season.

I will agree that Shayok probably has a more rounded game and a bigger body to throw at people, but Jackson is one of the best shooters in the conference.

We need shooters. Losing our best one without any obvious snipers coming online after him does make me a little worried about our spacing next year.

Our half-court offense struggles because we lack two things...

-- big men who are skilled enough to beat anybody one-on-one on the block
-- enough shooters to space the floor for drives or those same big men

An offense based on slashers might suffer a little. I am sure the obvious solution is just to turn on the nitro jets and base our offense around transition, however.

I had to look back to double check, but Clyburn was really the last impact Small Forward we've had at ISU. The elder Babb might count, but he was more of a long SG. Anyone else that has been 6'6-6'7 has been a stretch 4. We've done a lot with multiple 6'4ish 2 guards, but Shayok should really add that length that we've been missing since the elder Babb was here.

On a lot of other teams they would be, but for ISU they ended up playing that stretch 4 and stayed inside a lot more. Hogue and Ejim were often our biggest post threats in their years here.

Watched a little of the coaches call in show and Prohm was asked who spends the most time in the gym and he said Marial.
