Quran just decommited from ISU per his Twitter.

Can't blame him for making sure he's 100% confident in his decision, but it sucks to hear this for sure. Guess we'll find out how resilient this staff is if they can reel him back in..Any info on Chandler or has that ship already sailed..?

Quran seems like a kid that loves to be recruited. Doesn't mean he's a bad kid or that ISU won't still sign him but he seems to enjoy the attention.

I bleed cardinal and gold, but I would never push my kid to come to Iowa State, nor would I be disappointed in them if they chose not to come to ISU.

Guys, this staff has done one hell of a job recruiting. But having kids decommit shouldn't be a shock. No matter how much you love a coaching staff, these young men are seeing this team get their asses pounded and likely don't want to be a part of that. I don't blame them. That makes our coaches jobs even tougher.

"But they can be part of the change"

Yes, I'm sure Lazard thought that as well.

Part of a few recruits decommitting is the losses, but I think a lot just goes along with the territory of getting commits early. This staff has done a lot more to get guys to commit early on, which, for a lot of high schoolers, might mean that their decisions will change. That isn't necessarily an awful thing, I just think it's something that might happen some more with this staff, even with how good of recruiters they are.

I feel like this is getting the pretty girl to be your girlfriend as you drive her to the modeling Studio. Once inside everyone starts to see how pretty she is her head gets a little bigger and her world expands. Doesn't mean she doesn't like you but this is the problem of early "commits"

I would be very surprised if we don't see more decommits. Half of the reason is that we are probably going to have a losing record. The other half - and this is the exciting part - is that this is by far our highest rated class and these kids are going to have a lot of attention from other schools all the way to signing day.

I'm not terribly worried. I'm sure the staff is working hard to keep them committed (and probably helping them keep each other committed). And I'm sure they have back up plans.

I'm sensing some history with this post...

In this day and age, decommitments are going to happen whether you are winning or losing games. We signed quite a few players last year that had previously been "committed" to other teams.

We'll lose our share, but we'll get our share too.

Yeah, well, good luck finding them outside of Iowa.
let's all remember when we were 17 years old and thinking about schools - i'm sure most of us not from Iowa didn't really have a clue about iowa state and even if we did we didn't bleed cardinal and gold. we all forget our intense love for ISU is highest after we graduate - at least for most people I know - because we yearn for that nostalgia and those years. asking a 17 year old to have the same passion about a school doesn't make sense.

Yup, went to ISU because I liked the engineering curriculum and I thought the campus was cool and I liked the small college town setup. Other than that I had never watched much if any ISU basketball or football. Now I don't miss a game.

The current recruits didn't sign up to come to ISU because of our awesome winning tradition. If anything this shows how much ISU needs good recruits and those recruits will get the chance to come in and play right away.

It would have been great if Campbell could have come in and won 6 games with Rhoads' leftovers, but that just wasn't realistic.

CMC is selling his plan and where these recruits fit into that plan. And his sales pitch has worked quite well so far.

Yes we will have defections, but the recruiting has been much better than expected. That's part of the risk when you get early commits from guys that other schools want too. And I prefer it to waiting until the end of the year and scrambling for two star leftovers
