Just because he was mean to people doesnt mean he treated people of different races different. While being a mean coach isn't necessarily something good, its not against the law. This is Division One Athletics.

Remember Dan Hawkins? "this is not intramural!"

She directly addresses the race issue. I thought she explained herself very well. I tend to lean in favor of Fennelly in all of this, but this made me think a little. It's certainly a lot more thought provoking than that crap the former prof wrote.

Yes it is thought provoking and better crafted then the crap letter by the old retired journalism dude.

So why wrote support for someone who accused him of racism? I can understand if she writes to someone who sues for his behavior. That's why it's confusing to me.

She included the following, which if true, could be damaging I would think.

I don’t know if Fennelly is racist in the conventional sense, but I do know if you are not a favorite, he has no compunction about attacking you in racial terms. I witnessed it and others did as well.

that makes sense - this could be damaging.
and we've seen that certain words (eg "thugs") are now considered to be racially offensive.

Yeah, that doesn't sound good, but it's still not clear. It does raise curiosity.

She did mention racial attacks in her account. Part of his meanness. The racial stuff is against the law even if he's not a racist.

I honestly expect more from anyone in leadership positions. I get it about riding players to be better players, but I'd rather have them leave better PEOPLE first and foremost.

As far as anyone knows the law firm representing Moody help write that. She left Drake because of a coaching conflict and then writes this. Maybe she has an issue with authority figures?

Nikki was never Academic All Conference 1st (3.2 GPA and above) or 2nd (3.0-3.19GPA) team in her time at ISU and she was never an ISU Scholar Athlete.

I'm sorry but you need far better than a 3.0 to even have a remote chance to get into Vet School and it appears she did not have above a 3.0 GPA in Communication Studies.

She certainly didn't learn much about communication.

I wonder what kind of racial terms are used. Can Lacey (Otzelberger) sue BF now just because she was called "Aus" - indicating that she's from Australia? and therefore singling her out vs American players?

This is why in a lot of cases the accused will be in disadvantage because IIRC, like in harrasment cases, it's not the intent but the "feeling" of the recipient. Someone can call you something but if you think it's racist or sexist then you have a case

It's not illegal to be a racist, SpokaneCy. If it were possible to cure society's ills by making certain thoughts illegal there wouldn't be any dirty hippies.

My current prediction after reading through all this. If this gets by the judge as worthy for trial, I think they will get into depositions. Attorney's will see a chance to settle along the way where no one is at fault, and they all get paid. Of course Moody will get some but not as much as she'd like. Giving up that to not run the risk of losing her case. Both sides will go their separate ways as you do with settlements. BF will "decide" its time to retire, and a new day will come to the ISU WBB program, good or bad.

Seems like if you sue someone the case should be dropped, Sent to trial, or someone admits wrongdoing.

Settling out of court jus gives lawyers a payday and encourages people to sue hoping for a settlement.

You also stated something as "fact" in post 413:

"...I know for a fact some players have already contacted her lawyer voicing support..."

Either you don't know the meaning of the word "fact" or you are associated with one of the attorneys mentioned in this thread or you are Nikki Moody.

So which is it Dahlia?

Nope. But it's a fact she wrote it. Keep your conspiracy theories going though...this is good reading.

I may not have to advise top girls basketball players in SD that they do not want to play for that guy anymore. I contacted the coach of one player, and soon found out that she already knew enough to not consider it.

Edit: For those that are adding to my comment, I did not say there are a lot of D1 players from SD, I did not say I contact every player. If I heard of a D1 recruit that was possibly considering ISU, I would try to let them know. Has been only one so far.

Lol this guy is important. Fool..D1 players from south dakota. Oh no!
