So much for one CFH leaving thread.

I don't mind, I expect to avoid chores all weekend chasing everything down on here.

"Will be disappointed"? The only way Hoiberg is still here next week, much less next season, is if something totally falls through with the Bulls. In which case we get a lame duck coach and dysfunctional team for a season before he jumps ship next year.

Unless you're still in denial. In which case that's cool. We all process our grief at different speeds.

I do not believe that Fred has made a decision. I really don't. It's an incredibly tough one for him if I can read the man at all (and I consider myself excellent at reading people). It seems likely that he will go, but I don't think it is set in stone just yet.

Boy do I appreciate your half glass full mentality but this thing will be done prob tomorrow or Monday at latest.

I keep hoping this is some kind of ruse, set up by Hoiberg and Pollard in an effort to keep ISU basketball in the news, even during the offseason. I hope the conversation went something like this, "I've had heart surgery, you just had heart surgery and are in for a couple months of recovery. This year, when the NBA rumors really start to fly, why don't we just pack it in and keep our mouths shut. I mean, Fred, you can't be on the road doing much anyways, so why don't we just relax and let it ride. Then we'll sign you to a new deal once the smoke clears."

I know that's not the case, but I really keep hoping that Pollard is behind the ultimate prank.

Agreed. I would bet that he told the Bulls he would not make a decision until after he was healthy and cleared to work, which happens to coincide with Thibs firing.

Who cares? If the general feeling is that he will then leave next year for the MN job, then no recruits will be signing with us anyway. I say GTFO and let the next coach in.

Maybe he demotes himself to assistant and helps TJ for a year.

Well, if you think he is staying, here is your hypothesis:

Gar is using Fred's name as the front runner to create leverage to hire someone else more cheaply. Since the owners are apparently cheap.

Do I believe that? No. But I suppose it's feasible.

At this point I think it is just a matter of when they schedule the news conference. I would bet friday afternoon, you always do bad news to bury on friday afternoons.

I would certainly not put it that way, but yes, I hope that he would come out and announce that he's in it for the long haul and if he's not, then I would hope he makes the move now.

I'm pretty down about ISU ball right now but there's no way I'm throwing in the towel. I've been a season ticket holder since Wayne's first season and hardly miss a game. If I can suffer through his last season and every one of the McD years, anything is possible. No matter how bad it gets, Hilton will always be my home away from home.

Now we can replace the term being "Chiziked" with the term being "Hoiberged". Strangely it has a similar feel that while many thought Hoiberg was doing his job at ISU he had been flirting with, planning with, and ultimately leaving to go to the Bulls for some time now. Much like the Chizik situation the fans were totally duped (see the Diallo story from today) by Hoiberg.

Fortunately there isn't a truckload of Hoiberg coins that Cyclone fans will have to try and get rid of this time around.
