Mothers Day Weather Thread

It's just mind boggling that people are so self centered that they care more about some stupid show rather than possibly saving somebody's life by keeping them up to date on an actual tornado.

It's even worse when said person obviously has the internet. It's not 1985, you aren't going to have to wait until the winter to see the rerun of the episode of Love Boat you missed because of severe weather coverage.

Clones 21 wasn't the only one notching. Kcci just posted a huge long message. people emailed and called im about them breaking in from the good wife finale. That's pathetic.

What was weird was the National weather service calling off the Tornado watch instead of letting it expire. Shortly after they did that all hell broke loose.

I was critical of all the hype at first. Not saying I feel better that it happened but at the time I complained at 5pm or so, everyone was saying the worst was done for the day. Even Kurtis Gertz at KCCI. My brother did track the strom as it went over Carroll he took these pictures just 2 miles north of the middle school area.

Yeah, I'm bumping an old weather thread, don't want to start a new one.....

So, what happened early this morning? Woke up and looked at my phone, noticed that there were two tornado warnings that got sent to it, one at 3:13am and the other at 3:30am. I'm in Dallas County near Waukee, but I never heard any tornado sirens fire up. I remember waking up once around 3:20am or so and could hear the wind and rain against the bedroom window, but nothing was moving around on the deck (that's always my trigger to get up out of bed and see what's going on), so I didn't think there was anything major going on.

It's that night time jet stream.

1. "Tornado" sirens are not designed to be heard inside. They would have to be insanely loud for that. Weather radio's are for this exact situation. You are asleep, busy or for whatever reason oblivious.

2. If you were indeed in the warning your phone should have gone off. Unless you have disabled that feature. In that case see #1.

The siren is about 4 houses away from me. I would have heard it. My phone sits downstairs at night, not in my bedroom. So, now that we have that out of the way....what happened?

Waukee wasn't in the warning. They stopped issuing county by county warnings.
