ISU @ KU Postgame

I'm not concerned about KU consistently underperforming in the tournament, just making an observation. I'm sure if it becomes a pattern for Hoiberg I'd start telling myself the same things. Side note, do you have a single post that isn't a backhanded shot at ISU? With PullnPray's posts I'm not sure it's just a you thing, maybe it's just a KU fan thing.
Maybe you're just a little hypersensitive. Me pointing out that ISU and KU have a different perspective on things isn't an attempt at a compliment, let alone a backhanded one. It's just pointing out that we have different viewpoints on the topic at hand. Like I said, if the biggest problem KU has is that they flame out a round or two early in between Final Four appearances then I really don't have much to complain about. History has shown me that things will come together for another Final Four run in the near future so it takes some of the sting out of a bummer end to a good year when they happen.

Come on now. Comparing Iowa State to an ugly girl is a straightforward insult, not a backhanded compliment. But you did ask for it.

Shouldnt' Kansas be aiming for a bit more than a final 4 appearance every 4 or 5 years. When you are a #1 seed more often than you are not, you should probably try to make the final 4 more often than not.

It's not like Kansas is losing to the #2 or the #3 seed when they get booted. They are losing to #10, #14, #13, #11, and #9's.

The year they lost to #2 seed UCLA, that's kind of what one expects. Losing to UNI, etc is not really something Kansas should be doing.

Last year, they have a bit of an excuse, but honestly, an elite coach probably should have had them more prepared to play without Joelle. They had losses to Iowa State and West Virginia that showed them what they should have been doing.

But what do I know?

A frenetic and exciting game early on. Too many errors and missed shots to steal one in Lawrence, but we are still in a good spot if we can play well the rest of the way. We'll need some help if Kansas is going to be dethroned this year and some of the early contenders to the crown have struggled to get the wins. Great teams find a way to win and how the next few weeks play out will help define this team as one of the greatest or just a great team. Barring an epic meltdown that is. Proud of the effort, but another missed opportunity. Keep on playing hard and getting better Cyclones!! Another Saturday/Monday turn-around this week, so buckle up for another great week-end/Big Monday slate of games.

This is one thing I just don't understand about some of the posters on this site. These guys played their hearts out tonight and left their guts out on the court. Isn't that all we can ever ask of a bunch of 18-21 year old young adults? As long as the intensity and effort is there, fans should be supportive of their team.

Yes, it was a great effort. Wayne Seldin shot the killer threes and we could not keep up. This loss was better than the USC and TT games because those were played with less effort. If you lose with effort, the loss is the best you could do for that game. Still a work in progress.

There is no way we win the conference now. The good news is we will be a 2 seed and face KU hopefully in the conference tourney championship. I have no doubt that if KU doesn't shoot lights out that we win that game on a neutral court. I also think momentum of winning the tourney leads well into the NCAA tourney. Bad news is the 12 straight or whatever is getting annoying.......

That was a compliment for ISU, since he was pretty firm on the idea of us making the next 10 NCAA Tournaments.

See? CycloneErik gets it. The perspective of ISU fans has already changed dramatically from where it was before Hoiberg got there and it will be dramatically different in ten more years if Hoiberg continues on his current rate of progress. You'll hopefully be in a situation where you'll laugh at the notion that you used to blast programs for a few early flame outs sprinkled between Final Four appearances.

Thankfully you came to tell us this or we would be totally ignorant of the changing wind.

And Tyco is back to smoking that KU wacky wheat, getting high enuff to reconfirm his everlasting, irrefutable, NCAA tourney memories, reality be damned. After endless pages of facts and logic proving that KU under performs and regularly squanders great tourny seeds to lesser programs(AKA chokes), he honestly believes KU has had "a few early flame outs sprinkled between final four appearances."
I'm thinking maybe we should leave him to his alternate reality and house full of cats, it seems to be a happy place for him.

Ah, you guys take this all too seriously. Like I said, hopefully ISU is getting to where they will have enough great things happen that they won't sweat the bad things because the occasional bad thing is unavoidable. There is literally no top college basketball program that hasn't been bitten by the upset bug a few times. To expect it never to happen is silly. Just cross your fingers when the tourney starts and if the upset bug gets you then you just start looking forward to the next season and move on. Enjoy the great ones and forget the rest.
