Last Place Free Throw Defense

I'll drop the mic on this one, teams know they need to make them to have a chance.

Maybe it's because cyclone alley swings their stupid little wave board 2 seconds after the ball leaves the shooters hand.

Time to implement the curtain if distraction?

But isn't it cute to see all their arms moving in unison as the ball swishes through the hoop yet again?? Seriously though guys, move the freaking sign 2 seconds before you think you should and you'll finally get it right after about 10 years of failure.

stupid fackin toyota signs arent distracting…we need a naked painted grad student in a speedo! Or at least Brackins in his fat girl suit

We could make the curly hair girl that was always on camera the last few years go all buff and reenact the "All Natural" Carl's Jr. commercial.

I've noticed that they are late every time too.

Don't you guys know anything about basketball? It doesn't have anything to do with the shooters. They are trying to confuse the ball on its way to the hoop.

It was 2 or 3 years ago or something where I think Oklahoma State broke an NCAA record and went like 28/28 from the line and won by like 2 or 3 points.

Yeah cyclone alley needs to think of something else, because the players clearly aren't destracted.

I was in the pep band from 2001-04 and I ABSOLUTELY HATED the chants. Towards the end I refused to do them because most were so stupid. There was one terrific exception:

"It puts the lotion on its skin!"

Can't remember who it was a against, but the player was obviously distracted and absolutely bricked it. Pretty sure the director at the time banned that chant going forward. There was also the "No means no" chant against Pierre Pierce. That was beautiful.

People seemed to enjoy ripping on FlagGuy and SuperFan here, but they would at least do some wacky crap to distract FT shooters. And would flip ends of the arena if I recall at half.

I was looking at some stats and noticed that we are literally the worst team in the country at free throw defense by percentage. Last year we were 326/351, and this year we are 351/351. Our student section needs to step up their game!

If you cant be original, dont do anything. Copying someone elses idea is LAME.

A grad student at Duke (i think) did a research article on free throw distractions. The conclusion was that audible distractions were more effective than visual.

our brain is constantly processing to find patterns and recognizable sounds. if you hum a song but clap your hands off beat eventually they two will match up because your brain doesn't like things not in order. That's why audible is more effective because the shooters' mind can't block out the sounds.
