Marcus Smart plays soccer?

Y'all getting hurt about soccer .

But if you're being objective, you can't deny that every time someone hits the ground they writhe around in pain and then magically jump up and run like nothing happened.

While I would agree there is flopping, from what I've seen the refs rarely fall for it so the flopper is only hurting his team.

Weird to make a new thread about this, though.

I'm far from an expert, but it seems to me that WC refs have been erring on the side of "let them play/play on" more often than not. There are far fewer stoppages than there are dudes hitting the deck.

I wouldn’t go that far as to say the refs rarely fall for it as they do constantly but we also now can give yellow cards for simulation and there have been multipule VAR reviews where yellows given by the refs have been revoked and given to the flopper so that’s major progress. Would still like to see more fines as the France game last night was horrific to watch due to the constant diving and the ref lost control of it

1st time watching soccer?

Some Canadian player got his leg broken in the world cup and was totally calm.

It seems like the refs won't call it unless you "sell it." Thus, you have to fall and curl up in order to make sure that ref calls it. There is clearly a game within the game.

They're just trying to force a free kick. A lot of those aren't fake though. You can see in the replays many times they're getting cleated in the ball of the ankle. These guys are going all out.

Marcs Smart would be the Pele of soccer!
No, diving will only get you so far. You still have to be highly skilled and have an elite understanding of the game to be a great soccer player. There are dive artists but they often get calls in the first half or so of a game until a good center figures out they are being duped and then they give the benefit of the doubt to the defense.

I concede that there are a lot of not so good refs who don't figure it out.
