Top Zoos

so....looking to the future, when do you start taking kids to the zoo? 2, 3, 6? :cute:

We started going to Omaha every year when our oldest was 2--she is 9 now. We have family in Omaha and spend a few days the around the 4th to hit the Storm Chasers game with the fireworks and then usually the zoo the next day. When the baseball game is on the 4th, we hit the zoo on the 5th which happens to be our anniversary. I bet we have spent over 1/2 our anniversaries at the zoo.

You won't see everything in one day. If you have a Blank membership, I think you should be able to gt 1/2 off admission to HD.

went to Omaha zoo Sunday of memorial weekend .... lots of people but didn't feel that crowded. damn lemur island was closed though.

ITS ALWAYS CLOSED.

We get highly discounted season passes from work, so we go there a lot just to walk around. I would say we have been 10+ times each of the past two years and not once has lemur island been open.

The Lemurs have a form of herpes and when it flairs up, they shut down the island so that zoo customers don't "catch" it. True Story.

I think I'll head over there tomorrow morning. I try to get out there once every couple of years. Kind of embarrassed that I've never been to blank park. Although I did get discount tickets to one of the beer nights .

While it is a great zoo, I think the Fort Worth zoo is better. Much better animal attractions and a better overall layout. Although my kids did enjoy both, they were just disappointed that Omaha no longer had an elephant to see.

Best gyros in town right across from the zoo....stop there at least once a month on the way home from work....back over to the good side of the river, Council Vegas!!!

We just got back from the minneapolis zoo (not the st. paul zoo in Como park) and we liked it a lot. I'm sure it is not anywhere near Omaha's zoo but it was still a nice zoo with plenty to do for our 2 and 4 year olds. We were there almost an entire day and we didn't quite make our way all the way through it.

Coming back soon, but much bigger and better. Here's a link to upcoming future exhibits that are part of the zoo's master plan.

I think someone said to go on the week days if possible. This is truth. My family and here now and it's so packed it ruins the fun. Hense why im posting on CF. Bought train tickets this morning and having to wait 50 minutes just to ride the stupid train for 10 mins. Oh and no aquarium for us. The line was over 100 people long just to get inside the front door. :(
