Hard to argue with that. Henry Doorly is awesome.

It's no Blank Park, but then again, what is?

It's been a while since I was there but I thought Kansas City was pretty good. Doorly is awesome though. The aquarium alone is worth the price of admission.

the renovations to the entrance this year was pretty cool, haven't seen the new stuff in the aquarium yet.

Did they ever get a panda? I know there was a push to get one and they might have had a donor set up, but the Chinese hold them hostage. The company I worked for got a behind the scenes tour of the facilities and they really thought that's what they needed to put them over the top.

I've been thinking about taking my kids to Doorly this summer. Would I be best off to take a Monday off and go there then? I assume the weekends are crazy busy and I would also think the drive bys may have died down after the weekend.

Crips and Bloods don't rest just because it's Monday. Stay strapped.

If you want to go to any of the indoor stuff I would go on a weekday. They get pretty crowded on the weekends.

You may want to check out the Bertrand Museum by Missouri Valley also. I thought it was pretty interesting.

There are some grea exhibits at HD, but for sheer size, I think you'd have to go with San Diego. I haven't been there in over 30 years.

Quick story. When I was in the Navy, a buddy and I went to the SD zoo.We were watching the chimps and they kept begging for peanuts. The alpha male would hog them all. We noticed the skycar going right behind the enclosure. So we each bought a bag of peanuts and took a ride. As we passed by, it was launch time. We couldn't see the action, but the screeching was almost deafening. When we got back, this guy we told was still there laughing his azz off. Said he never saw such a scramble.

went to Omaha zoo Sunday of memorial weekend .... lots of people but didn't feel that crowded. damn lemur island was closed though.

Love the Omaha Zoo. We take the family every year and it is worth the visit. You almost can't see it all in one trip. The night exhibit and the aquarium are my personal favorites.

I use to want to be a zoo keeper as a kid. Went to the national zoo in DC, San Antonio Zoo, Austin Zoo, Waco Zoo and the Des Moines Zoo. Would love to go to Omaha, Columbus or San Diego zoo.

We have a family membership to Henry Doorly. Never get tired of going there.
We do too. Pretty sweet deal, Imax is included, and you don't have to feel like you have to see it all in one day. It makes sense if you live near Omaha and/or go there a lot. St. Louis Zoo is just as good though, and it's FREE to get in.
